Klatt: NCAA a "terribly run'' operation that needs to protect players (http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news?slug=ap-colorado-klatt&prov=ap&type=lgns)

I gotta agree with him on this one. College sports and the competition that student athletes need to deal with is beyond our level of culture and civilization. I've always thought that watching a weekend NFL game was like a modern day matchup between gladiators (as the DirectTV "Glory is the Game" commerical insists) and watched College since the action is a little slower and more strategic. What happened in this case happens way too often now though, and someone needs to step in and tell the kids when enough is enough.

Yes, you can argue that this would result in the same thing that's wrong with parents that are too involved in their kids sports. The safety of the athletes in this case though is not only compromised, but ignored and neglected. The fans, the business, and the coaches never mind the teammates always put a enormous amount of pressure on you when you go out on the field, and whenever you perform, you want to excel for the attention and the gratitude of success. What's happening here though is similar to kids of rival classes in elementary school - the bloodlust is reached its boiling point and no one cares about the consequences, only the damage inflicted.
