the title is a bit akward, but i will try to explain. Have you ever noticed, that a word will get used in one place, IE: an album name, and for some reason it started poping up everywhere? is it that people pick up the term and just run with it? or is it that the term was in frequent use, just that it wasnt till you saw it in a significant spot that you actually noticed it?
here are two examples.
1) i was recently reading a column for a website, and the writer dropped two words that clicked in my mind that i have seen appearing frequently: Happenstance and Iconoclast. the thing is, they didnt seem to appear that fequently until 2 albums, Happenstance by Fozzy, and Iconoclast by Ascention of the Watchers were released. actually, i dont think i even heard the words till then. a similar one is Archetype, which i hadnt really heard of, yet was used often, after Fear Factory released the album of that name.
2) back when they first started appearing in magazines, Coal Chamber were described as eclectic. i hadnt heard that term before, but have seen it (and used it myself) a fair bit since.
does it seem like people are jumping on these terms, probably to make themselves look intellectual? or has their use not changed, and i just hadnt noticed them before?
also, if you want, post similar things that you have come across. could be a band, album, song, film, book etc name, or it could be a term that just seemed to pop up, then get used ad-bloody-nausium
