I dont, but if so, then I just want to know what is 'Mecca Times' in Arabic, if possible. I'd appreciate a picture of the words, on a white background. If I'm asking too much, then sorry about it.

"mecca times" in arabic is wakt al mecca, but as you can see that is transliterated and i cant figure out how to insert an image into this mesage.

I'm learning Islam for World Religions and Beliefs. So during the course we're learning a bit of Arabic to see. So I have to write an essay involving some information on Islam and I've decided to put in some Arabic.

I'm taking it at my school. No, I don't go to an arabic school, or am even from an Arabic speaking or muslim family. I'm actually a New York Jew (non-religious). I go to an international school, so the Lang. program is excellent. We start our 2nd language in 1st grade (spanish for me) and had about 7 other choices for a 3rd. After a year and 1/2 of Arabic, I'm starting to wish I'd taken something else. Our teacher is SO boring, and we have this textbook made for college students that's rediculously wordy...

Ahlan Wa' Shalan? That's whatwe're using.
I'm only in my first year, so I'm no help for this.

But walking around saying "Marhaba.." and a bunch of useless greetings in Arabic in an area where everyone speaks English or French.. is fun.

I've been told I look scary for a skinny guy. So I'm sure walking around speaking random phrases in Arabic isn;t going to make any difference.

Still, it's funnier in games. A freind and I who actualy speaks Arabic used to play Battlefeild Desert Combat as the Iraqi's and run around blowing stuff up while flooding the chat with things like "Marhaba!" and other things that were no more then "Hello, how are you?" and "I'm pleased to meet you!". That really pissed people off.

Yes to all. My god, now that I think about it, that evil book must be the bane of every Arabic student in the US!

Uh, yeah, maybe its because that EXACT situation is happening with our troops in Iraq and to call it "funny" is an insult to the brave soldiers giving their lives over there for us. Your friend is an A-rab asshole and you are no better.

Ha, my professor has us steal Arabic names from the book.
Although we're not that mad at it in my class. I keep opening the book the wrong way.

If you're teacher asks you to role play a speach and assume an Arabic name and identity, don't start with. "Marhaba, ana Sadam Hussien. Ana min Baghdad. Baghdad fee Iraq."

Man I need to practise.

Our teacher has played the songs Hal Siyyaara and Habbaitak Bissayf off of this (http://www.musicoflebanon.com/fairuz-page.htm)page abou a 1000 times.

The former's lyrics are actually pretty funny, IIRC our teacher's translation. Their car breaks down in the middle of nowhere in Lebanon, and they wait and wait and "one mayor comes, and another mayor goes, and still the car is not fixed".

There's something very melodramatic about the latter. Notice the US Army banner at the top...:p

Oh, and TAI, I don't get where you come off saying that about Iraq. what they were doing might be annoying, but has NOTHING to do with our troops in Iraq. He/she was talking about a VIDEO GAME! Have you considered they talk in Arabic to the soldiers because...um...IT'S THEIR 1st LANGUAGE? Calm down....

Uh, if your like THAT, yes, totally something wrong with it.

Last time I checked, you should respect people who are dying, regardless of nationality, being Canadian does not make you exempt. Your a dick.

I guess your apparent assumption that all who speak Arabic are terrorists is perfictly normal.
In such a case, I may be a dick, but you are at the very least a hypocrate, and more appropriatly labled a bigot.
