Despite a time-honoured tradition of successful aerial descents, usually down chimneys, Father Christmas was left dangling suspended above the stage in front of an estimated 20,000 crowd at Wellington's Westpac Stadium on Saturday.
The lights had to be dimmed to avoid upsetting children in the crowd as staff worked to untangle the man in the red suit.
And that, gentlemen, is why we shave.

Could be worse. Santa having to explain to countless Maoris why they didn't get what they wanted for present.
aahh come on you lot, get out of it.... a minor hitch barely worth a pixt, Santa knows that flying foxes sometimes bite back, really if that's the worst that happened, it was a good day down under for ol' Santie....
....honestly if you think that's giving ol' Santa a hard time you shoulda seen the mess that year we got all fancy and tried to send his damn reindeer down the flying fox...
wont be doing that again....at least not until Santa gets himself some gutsier reindeer....who'd thought a minor mishap on a flying fox could trigger a phobia of heights in a herd of flying friggin reindeer... as for the fuss over the hecklers in the cheap seats, they were only kidding about the caribou steaks....:p

I may have a twisted sense of humor, but if a Santa all the sudden explodes while having a child on his lap, I would just die laughing.

This is exactly why Santa should not be on a Flying Fox.
-he has a perfectly good Sleigh you know.
-He should also never be following Shrek on said Flying Fox.
