Pets and Music

Anyone here have pets and notice that they like a particular type of music?

For example, my cat, Abby ( http://photobucket.com/albums/v420/kaiwai/pussy/ ) seems to absolutely love listening to either Coldplay, Katchafire (NZ reggae group) or Nick Cave and the bad seeds.

Anyone else here notice the same thing with their pets?

I had a cat that would curl up next to the speaker when my roommate played industrial music. When I played jazz it would freak out and run all over the room.

No acounting for taste, I guess...

My sister tried whistling for some of my family's cats once, and found that they had certain preferences. I don't remember what any of the songs were though. I think she was mostly whistling classical music.

I've noticed that the cats come running in when I play the flute, but I haven't noticed them react to any other music.

My cats have historically been so terrified of the sax that they'll start running just by me bringing it out.

My cats like Hip hop when the bass is up really high. I think its the vibrations. My girl cat likes Jet as well. Come to think of it, so do I.

I got kinda worried about my hamster, whenever i played my sax in a closed room my someone would see it curled up in the corner of its cage, shaking slightly. Poor thing

My cat flees the room whenever I play my guitar. Goes to show he has some taste.

Being 16 now, I was the proper age to like the Spice Girls at their height. Whenever I would put on one of their CDs, my greyhound would come in running from the other room. It never failed to amuse me.

See, thats the strange thing, my Dog, Odie, a Labrador/Irish Setter, loved listening to music with a good beat, especially old school disco, spice girls, basically anything that had major gay connotations - he would jump around, paddling his feet on the ground and his tail would go around in circles :)

My dog "sings along" with my Phantom of the Opera CD, I can't tell if he likes it, or if it annoys him and he is trying to make me shut it off. :p

Hermans Hermits seems to put him in a mellow mood though. ;)

Yeah, too bad he died, he was 13 years old :( the sad part, when you saw his face, he knew his time was up <crying> I swear, I cried more when my dog died than when my uncle did :(

My parents new dog is so cute; have you ever noticed that animals are just happy to be around you? all you have to do is sit in the room with them and they're so happy, like they're saying to themselves, "he's my master, and he is sooooo coool! I am so lucky" with a small smile on the face :)

I'm sorry :( I've known a good few dogs more worth mourning than certain people, not to malign your uncle.

I know exactly what you mean. I always feel guilty because I don't get as excited as they do, like I'm being disloyal. Though I think letting my two large dogs take up 4/5 of my bed every night because I love them too much to make them move makes up for it slightly. That and the feeding them.

My cat used to come curl up next to me whenever I played my harp, but when my sister got out her flute, he'd take one look and flee. :-D

My cat responds primarily to electronic music of the serious kind.
