Why?

Everyday you read about this in the paper. An innocent person is savagely beaten or killed, but not for anything.

It confuses me why some people would attack or kill another person for no personal gain.

Anyone want to enlighten me?

Because it's fun sometimes just to beat people up for being different, like that gay man we hog-tied to the tree next to that ant hill.

Random would be best defined as a situation where the relation between cause and effect is unknown. With enough research, there could be found reasons behind these acts of violence, but it's more sensational to leave them as random.

Fear of the unknown sells papers.

I hear some people say "Some of my friends are black," "Some of my friends are Jewish!" Well, some of my friends are serial murderers.

Indeed. I was happily minding my own business on the bus last nite (here in england) and on my way to my friends house.. I got off the bus and this chav (dont ask me to explain if you dont know) smacked me one just because of the type of music i listen too. I didsnt have any of it so i smacked him back! fact is, if i didnt know how to defend myself i could have been beaten badly and truned into one of those stories.. (cept over here, chav vs goth isnt really random.. it happens)
