Although I'm sure the BNP had the best intentions into discovering British history I fail to see this as anything but to stereotype Islamic people.

Phew. Good thing neither the British people nor the Christians were ever involved in anything as barbaric as that. Oh, hang on...

Why don't the Brits outlaw the BNP? Extremist parties, whether left or right, should all be outlawed.

To be honest, I'm just impressed that members of the BNP are able to read.

Because we, and I, believe that freedom of speech should be held sacrosanct.

'These savages' being the Christians?

Because we, in general, value democracy.

And who decides what is "extremist"?

Its a tough one really, they get about 1.5 % of the vote at national elections. They would say that if their views were not shared they wouldn't get that vote. They won't get any sort of power, basically an ugly joke that causes some minor problems

Why not outlaw them? Because we have faith in our democracy (ludicrous as it seems).

So, how would you define 'extremist' here? Presumably in contrast to the centre... so if the population as a whole took a sudden swing to the left or the right some groups not previously considered as extremists would suddenly find themselves listed as such, whilst others would lose the designation.

Because we, in general, value democracy.

At least as an ideal, even if instances of it actually being put into practice are quite spectacularly absent from our lives.

They would find themselves up against the wall pretty sharpish, Ceausescu fashion. Not a threat, but instead a prediction.

for them to come to power there would have to be a MASSIVE failing in the british voting system...

Then they represent the general opinion of the people and have a majority mandate and I'll probably get deported

Good luck to them on getting anything past the Lords.

If the majority supported the BNP they would no longer be "extremist."

You do that, and they win a major victory.

House of Lords has no power of veto, just a delaying power that the parliament act can wipe anyway

Hey, one of the oft-put forward reasons for keeping a moanrchy is to prevent the appointment of an extremist PM, even if there is an extremist party in majority.

Germany has tried to ban its own version of the BNP (the NPD (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Democratic_Party_of_Germany_%28NPD%29)), but so far found all sorts of issues, despite having pretty strict laws regarding anything that could even remotely look like Nazism.
So banning a party is not an easy thing to get past the courts in the first place.

And censorship of a legal political party in the UK could never happen. I mean, it would be completely ludicrous for the media to have to employ actors to read the words of elected representatives of the people, instead of legally being allowed to use their own voices...

Welcome to "Brimstone".
BNP "Legal Eagle", Lee Barnes (LLB, Hons) with his very own style of fearless and fiery delivery.

Whoop-ti-fucking-doo. The BNP consider it noteworthy that one of their contributors has managed to complete a three-year undergrad course. Consider me a tad underwhelmed by these credentials of intellectual rigour.
