I do!
Every year that goes by, I hate it more and more. I lose faith in our elected officials to always do the right thing, although seeing Feingold stand up to the Bush Administration does help renew that faith.

We do seem to agree a lot.
Still, it never ceases to amaze me how necessary it is for one to dispose of all of one's scruples in order to run for public office in this country. I've never seen a mainstream politician in my life that I didn't find corrupt, incompetent, or both. It seems to me that our best and brightest invariably shun public service, instead opting [and perhaps understandably so] for careers in business or academia. I'd like to see a real person as a politican for once, but I'm beginning to think such status might disquality one from running.

I think it's almost impossible for an ethical person to run a winning campaign for major office. Without the support of corrupt political peers(who don't endorse you for free), It's like hobbling yourself.
I think Jesse Ventura was probably the closest thing we'll see to an ethical man winning a major office. And he couldn't tolerate it for more than one term.

Indeed. However, I do not ascribe to the Objectivist Philosophy probably as much as you do. I prefer the libertarian moral code based on natural law as described by Murray Rothbard (specifically in his book, "The Ethics of Liberty"), and the works of St. Thomas Aquinas (who was a brillant political theorist in addition to being a great theologian). But, more often than not we agree on pretty much everything.

I have yet to find a politician that I could trust. In fact, recently I have become more disillusioned with politicans, especially in the current Bush administration. When I hear Bush say things such as "just trust us" I fear for our country. While I love politics I would never consider running for political office or hold any sort of public office. I would much rather be a professor/academic and write books showing HOW things would work, rather than be a politican spouting viewpoints not substantiated by fact or based in any sort of reality. Unfortunately, too many people fall for the charisma of politicans, buying into their schemes hook, line and sinker regardless of the consequences.

its not so much that i hate politics..
I just really hate nationstates Politicle talks. for many reasons.
1) each usualy some jerk who finds some article they want to post thinking in there small brains "OMG i found the true proof that will change everyones minds to what i bealive" and that is just not going to happen it only gets person B to get pissed and write back which in turn gets person C to flame.
2) Half the discussions are Im right your wrong i wont listen to what you have to say.
3) I am a dumb sheep who will follow my party till the end. Democrats and Republicans are both guilty of this I would just love one day to see somone say "i dont like Bush but i do like his views on *fill in the blank*" or I like John Kerry but i dont like his views on *blank*" why do you have to 100% love or hate a politicle party or system? I personly like pie but i hate coconut pie. So i guess i have to hate all pie.
4) most of the posters are people who dont know what they are talking about they just like sitting and complaining and since they dont make a voice for themselfs in the real world they have to make themselfs feel big and bad here. All you fast food or mailroom clerks who want to voice there opinion get a megaphone this is not your only place of power.....
5) thats about it right now.. people are smart individuals but stupid in groups or as i call it the "sheeple Effect"
btw make fun of my english if you want but as stated before i am new to the USA English is not my first or second langege it is my third so bare with me.
thank you all and to all a good night

I remember this one, some feminist who is overly obsessed with penis, decided that when a man pisses standing up he is (through methods I am, no doubt, too simple to understand) showing dominance over women who must sit down.
Jealous that she couldn't stand up too, she insisted that men must all sit as well.

How about a compromise? We'll carry on peeing standing up but we'll go into a separate room away from the women to do it.

What better thing to be entertained by than people who think they're intelligent and important making stupid decisions? Well, other than people ARGUING about those people and whether or not their decisions were stupid or not. Which is really what I like.
