Do you like the modern cuisine?

Well, do you like food that looks like modern art? Food that always arrives stacked in a tower of unidentifiable material in a puddle of "something" (a reduction, I know). Something that was assembled by hand and then lightly seared with a hand held propane torch?

Or are you someone who loves "regular" food? Something that's meant to taste good and fill you up, rather than look like it was stolen from the Museum of Modern Art?

Large slabs of meat are more my style.

I voted "I'll eat anything". The only problem I have with "mosern cuisine" is that there's just not enough of it being served. I feel like hitting a steak house after the dinner date.

I don't like it. Too much show, not enough substance.

I'm the typw who eats with his eyes first. A plate has to be appealing, especially if I'm going out for something other than fish n' chips. Flavor comes next, and well crafted sauces are more difficult to make than most people know. There's also something to be said for "petite elegance" where small portions for extremely fine foods are arranged on nice servingware in an artistic manner. Thomas Keller (http://www.frenchlaundry.com/) is my idol in regards to style. Fine food and fine wine, nothing beats it IMO. (BTW I'm niether rich, nor a snob, just a chef)

Doesn't matter, as long as it tastes good.

I don't believe in "cuisine" or "nationality" when it comes to food. That just limits your options and shows you have limited taste.

I don't care if it's from France, Japan, Indonesia, whatever, as long as it tastes good, I'll eat it.

Fancy preps and sauces dont impress me. Their very design originated in an effort to mask poor quality.

Now its to try to justify an absurd price.

Though I have and will eat anything, I prefer simple fresh food. And I like most things raw.

Well, have to admit, I love spicy food, and I love making my own. Although, ringing out for take away is often an attractive option after a long day at work. As long as it fills me up, it's warm and has a lot of flavour, I feel I've gotten my money's worth!

Favourite dish of the day: Home made chicken tikka masala - really easy and quick to make!

If mashed potato came in ready made forts with those little pieces of bacon being in the shape of people which you want to war with your date over gravy

hasn't anyone here had the ham with the bear/dinosaur on it or the nuggets shaped like dinosaurs if not I suggest you either go out and buy some or hang yourself because your life is not worth living

but I will eat whatever is on my plate so long as it isn't greens

My only demands when it comes to food is it tastes good and comes in plentiful amounts. As for the importance of looks, it's going to help my appetite a whole lot more looking at a pile of delicious meat and vegetables crammed onto a plate than seeing some bizarre mess organized in a way that immediately draws attention to the fact that you'll never see it in nature.
Not to say that nice and neat bothers me greatly because it doesn't. I mean, if the food's good and I'm not starving afterward, who cares?
Best resturaunts I've found are the little hole in the wall Mexican resturaunts littered throughout southern California. They're cheap, fast, friendly, and nothing in the world rivals their taste.
Although I will admit, when I went to Hawaii and got to have dinner at one of the most expensive resturaunts on Oahu, I certainly wasn't complaining =P

I'll eat anything, but like nouvelle cuisine a lot. It borrowed quite a bit from the Japanese way of preparing food, which when served always has an aesthetical edge to it.
I also like modern art, minimalist especially.

regular food, and lots of it please. taste is paramount.
i especially like classic italian and mediterranian food = best :)

we went to this fancyass restaurant for my mum's birthday a couple of years back and got served a column of (nearly raw) potato with some kind of pink (and utterly disgusting) sauce on top, two partridges (i think) with no meat on them, and some tiny cuttings of some veg all stacked in a artsy-fartsy way... AND it cost over a hundered quid for 3 of us :headbang:

never eating "modern cuisine" again if i can help it

I voted both because I like both... sometimes. My favorite artistic food restaurant is Morimoto's in Philadelphia (also in NY city) - he's the old Iron Chef Japan from Food Network. And his food, if you order the right things, is not only beautiful and expensive, it's also filling. My favorite is the 10 hour pork, so called for the pork that was slow cooked for 10 hours and is served in a broth of rice-stuff that compliments it very well. But given my choice, frequently I'd pick a good thick steak. Specially an ostrich steak. Expensive too, but not as much so, and I get leftovers to take home. Both are wonderful, as long as they keep the vegetables away from me!

Awww man! Can I have it if you're done with it? I so need that theory.

Pizza. Meat Lovers'. Now.

Nono... you should try my favorite: Triple Bacon.
