In order:
Bloody good matches there
Shit (I'm an Arsenal fan)
Mismatch, Juve will kick arse
If it weren't for Chelsea-Barca, this'd be the tie of the round
Lyon, easily
Could be interesting, Inter will probably win
Liverpool probably still won't have conceded a goal by February
Villareal could not have got an easier match

I pretty much agree with you there although i think that PSV might suprise Lyon. Still its a great draw, can't wait to sit in the pub watching them!!! :D

No, Lyon are brilliant and criminally underrated. PSV have one of the worst draws there. Lyon finished top of a group including Real Madrid, and beat them 3-0 at home. That tie might have the highest aggregate difference...either that or the Rangers - Villareal one.

either that or the Rangers - Villareal one.
If Inter could'nt do it then Villareal won't get near us

I agree about Lyon being underrated, yet i think it will be a close tie. Besides, REal Madrid aren't the force they used to be IMHO. Still 3-0 at the Bernabau should not be discounted. We'll wait and see :D

Yeah, because Inter weren't taking into account that they'd already qualified for the second round, were they? They didn't care about the result, they were already through as group winners. Villareal will kick Rangers arses from Scotland to Spain and back again.

In bold go through...

Chelsea vs. Barcelona. They just have it this year- they're peaking and are on fire- I think Chelsea peaked last year. They can look a little neutered up front if an injury hits

Real Madrid vs. Arsenal Close. Neither is doing well in their respective leagues. Real on depth alone.

Werder Bremen vs. Juventus

Bayern Munich vs. AC Milan Came close to not making it, but have the flair and depth to make it. Kaka is creating headaches for midfields and defences, nevermind Shevchenko.

PSV Eindhoven vs. Olympic Lyon. Potential to slip up again like last year but they might get their shit together now. Doing fine without Essian.

Ajax vs. Internazionale Milan

Benfica vs. Liverpool. Cannot really see a threat from Benfica here. But Liverpool can still slip up here

Rangers vs. Villareal. Rangers having never been to this stage before will struggle. Having a torrid time at home- 5th in the league I think, I doubt this will hold much for them

ok but we could have had them at the San Siro aswell

Could have, but you didn't... what 'could' have been doesn't count. It's still gonna be a tough tie, although at least you didn't get one of the 'big boys'.

totally unbalanced

neither Rangers nor Villareal have any business in the quarterfinals.

meanwhile, Chelsea and Barcelona are two of the top three teams in Europe. This should be a semifinals or finals match-up, not a round of 16 match-up.

here's who'll win them:

Chelsea, Real Madrid, Juventus, AC Milan, Lyon, Inter, Liverpool, Villareal

What a brilliant draw... and to think, even with the awful way we're playing, most people still fancy us to beat Arsenal.

I think that Barca is slightly better than Chelsea, and will beat them on aggregate and go on to win the whole thing.

I hope Real win, but either way, it should be a good tie with plenty of goals.

AC Milan and Bayern.... maybe AC by the slightest of margins. Maybe a one-goal aggregate win or penalties.

I sort of agree with the poster that joked about Liverpool not conceding until February. They should be too good for Benfica.

I'm going to be cheering for Ajax, but I recognise that they aren't the force they once were. Inter should make it relatively comfortably.

PSV against Lyon is again very close. Although I believe that Lyon are slightly stronger and PSV slightly weaker than last season. Lyon could do some real damage if they beat PSV...

Juve will most likely walk all over Werder Bremen, they way they are playing at the moment, anyway.

Villarreal are, I believe, a much stronger team than Rangers, yet Rangers still probably got the best draw they could have.

Bugger.

Both Werder and Bayern in tough games. I'll be hoping for an upset (but I'm still disappointed Schalke didn't make it).

And watch out for Hamburg next year. Might kick arse.

Chelsea-Barça: Really, it is impossible to think in a winner here.

Real Madrid-Arsenal: The same, but Real Madrid has a new coach, very similar to that Del Bosque who won 2 Champions and 2 Leagues... we can win

I wrote that because I see Chelsea and Barça exactly the same, they are the strongest teams in the world right now, and they have the same performance.

Real Madrid is terrible these times, but, you already know, this is Europe, everything changes...

I'm gonna say though, that this will be one of the highest scoring legs in the round. Lets face it, both teams defences are not exactly on top form and both teams are designed to attack.

The most important players in both legs will be the defensive midfielders who sit in front of the back 4. The one who has the better game and breaks up the midfield play will, IMHO, win the tie for either team. I think Gilberto is a good def. mid. and better than Reals opposite number.

Arsenal are missing Ashley Cole at the moment. When he's back that will tighten up our defence, seeing as Clichy is also out. We had Lauren, Campbell, Senderos, and Toure at the back against Chelsea, none of them typically a left back. So hopefully, we'll kick ass.

He's not that much of an idiot. Besides, we'd still have Clichy - who kept Cristiano Ronaldo completely quiet in the FA Cup semi-final in 2004. Ok, so Man Utd still won the match, but not because of Ronaldo.

Very true. Ronaldo can flatter to decieve sometimes, but Clichy is an excellent prospect, esp. learning from Cole.
