Since people are complaining NS general is dominated by religion vs atheism topics, but seem at a loss to think of anything more interesting - while at the same time the use of wikipedia is questioned I have decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Today's featured article on wikipedia is Shoe polish (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoe_polish). I personally must admit I seldom use it - just when I need to wear a suit. Are there people here on NS who do something more intersting with it ? Collect the boxes, use it to blacken their faces, make works of art... anything really ?

When I was in the Army I really liked Kiwi, but some people swore by Lincoln Stain Wax. I would use the black Kiwi and then a little bit of neutral to get that really good shine.

The polish was developed by Australia-based Scottish-born inventor William Ramsay, who named it Kiwi in honor of his wife, Annie Elizabeth Meek Ramsay, a native of Oamaru, New Zealand. Kiwi is the nickname for residents of New Zealand. Its success in Australia expanded overseas when it was adopted by both the British and American armies in World War I.
