I enjoy the forums of NationStates immensely because of the efforts of many to have fun and to discuss opinions. However, there seems to bigotry on all sides. Religion and Christianity have been prime targets.

Within a day of registering my country of Catholis (a free republic based on the morals of my upbringing) I was greeted by a bigot who believe the Catholic Church practiced witchcraft and any other religion but Protestant Christianity worshipped the "Antichrist"

On the forums many have outright attacked Christian principals in beliefs. Going further, several days ago I saw a post which attacked Buddhism because it hasn't been attacked before! Bigotry abound!

While Christian history does have its dark spots, the entirety of Western Civilization as we know it stems from religious-cultural background of our founders.
Atheism has been responsible for many deaths from Revolutionary France to Soviet Russia. Luther was responsible for the bloody peasant rebellion which killed 250,000 people. But it is wrong to place the blame on a person today for these actions or pressure him or her with these facts.

Obviously not. As long as one group insists on imposing its will and moral code on another will we never have peace. Getting along requires leaving the other guy alone and agreeing to disagree.

I think it's rather fun to debate Christianity with some of you. I don't understand why other Christians wouldn't enjoy it. (you know as long as everything is civil)

Yeah, "all mankind" should replace the second "people", and various other tweaking based etceteras. Can't edit my post, though, and so the record will just have to stand as it is.

I think it's rather fun to debate Christianity with some of you. I don't understand why other Christians wouldn't enjoy it. (you know as long as everything is civil)
Yup just as I dont mind debating agnosticsm or atheism or bisexuality or any of that other stuff with which I identify and tends to get picked on in different threads

actually there have been threds where people bashed satanism. There are actually a few LaVey satanists around here that get a lot of crap sometimes. ;)

I find it helpful to debate it, especially with people like you who actually have intelligent points and make me think. I figure the more I have to think about it, and the more I have to research it, then the more intelligent I get about it.

Just a quick head wreck, given that Jesus spent nine hrs dying on the cross and Judas got eternity in hell even though Jusus knew he was going to betray him and did nothing to stop it.Which suffered more for humanity.:D

Probably cause it is the result of a drug-addled drooling idiot (Anton Levey) who plagarized just about everything of value in his "Bible" (The original idea of which was thought up by his publishers as a way to generate easy cash and controversy) and then put in some random crap to pad out the page number a bit.

After watching Safran vs God, I have to say I'm not totally in agreement with the whole 'biting the testicles off a goat' thing that voodoo types do..

how do you know that Judas went to hell? Do you have a list of residents there or something?

I don't believe there is any scripture to back up that assertion, if there is I would be happy if someone posted it.

If you are looking for reasonable people with high intelligence and good debate skills who will discuss things in a mature manner and treat each other with respect regardless of differences of belief--go to a Klan rally, you would have more luck there then NS. People here just dont know their stupid tactless bigots.
