what do you guys think of the january public forum debate topic
and if you do origianal oratory what is your speech about?

Im joining debate next year. Thing I learned about posting high school threads- post before 10pm. Its semester exams week for crying out loud!

I think that calling it public forum doesn't make it stop being Ted Turner, and I can't respect a type of debate called Ted Turner.

its befor 10pm here.....but i did forget its exams week for most people....my semseter does not end untill jan. 14

I'm a policy debater, so I'm not one for advice about other types of debate. I will say, however, that an introductory biology class will prove that Mendelian genetics in fact do not prove intelligent design. It doesn't follow that because something works someone intelligent had to design it. Plus, there are flaws in the genetic system which wouldn't exist if an omniscient designer came up with it.

I'm against ID in public schools. Private schools can do whatever the hell they want. ID is a non-falsifiable essentially religious theory that is not even remotely passable for real science and would constitute an establishment of religion under the 1st Amendment.

Genes were an evolutionary adaption that proved to be the most successful system of providing for the survival of future generations of a particular organism, just as the purple flowers proved to be dominant to the white flowers in Mendel's experiment.

Genetic manipulation is definitionally human intervention in plant evolution. Because plants evolved before people, and their genetic system came first, we can't have been the intelligent designer of plant genetics, and thus Mendel does not prove ID.

that may all hold some truth but you must rember that ID deals with the idea that the world was created by a supernatural being
