ok, its coming up to new year... so its about time for all those nonsense 'looking back at the year just gone' conversations, tv shows, arguements and of course, threads right here :)

so, what is your favourite moment, time, experience or thing in the whole year, be it personal, political, or whatever? :)

me, its probably a tie between the week i spent in amsterdam and the times i've spent talking to and getting to know my amy :fluffle:

It'd have to be when I went back to my hometown, Port Aransas, back in July.

Not a time, per se, but time... The time I've spent watching my son go from 'baby' to 'toddler.' Watching his eyes light up as he learns each new skill, or discovers each new thing in the world... Hearing him call 'Daddy' or 'Mama' as he runs towards one of us or the other... Watching him trying to copy my T'ai Chi or Hsing Yi as I practice my forms... Helping him learn new things, or playing with him, or simply holding him in my lap as he sleeps... Carrying him up the stairs drooped limply over my shoulder with his arms 'round my neck... Hearing his sleepy voice saying 'ball' as he snuggles with my ratty old softball to sleep...

Yup. My little guy is pretty much the whole year, for me.
:)

It was pretty much the exact same, when his big sister was his age... :)

My 21st was a lot of fun, in an immature drunken kind of way. Except for that one hour in the middle where a chocolate biscuit (The Wheaten of Death!1!11!!) made me pass out... It was the kind of fun where the friend ho hosted the party got an official warning for being too loud. Heh.

Oher than that... doing really well in the Student Union elections was great. Lots of craziness, frustration and stress but rewarding in the end. We really punched above our weight, considering how few campaigners we had. :D

Well, because the year is not over there still might be something very good coming up (i'm hopeful :D) But until then I think it's a tie between a week in february in which I organized lots of stuff for 20 foreign people (and party ofcourse) and my cultural exchange in Denmark.

The moments all blend together: when I'm sitting behind my mixing desk, with a beer beside me and the sound is just spot on with an amazing band playing. Lost in music. This is the shit we would gladly live and die for.

(And a note on the date. It isn't that I have a fantastic memory, just I can remember Doctor Who being on that night.)

i hope to be able to say the same thing (near enough ;)) myself one day :)It's the biggest exclusive club in the world... Ya gotta be a parent to be a full member. ;) I could wax philosophical all day on the subject, and you could absoultely believe every word I say, but until you hold that tiny little life in your hands, and realize the profundity of what has happened, you'll still not 'get it' in all its glory and terror. Awe-inspiring is exactly the right word for it.
:) :)

As good as it sounds, that's not even a patch on what it feels like in real life.

As wonderful as children are, they are very nearly as much trial, and a new relationship should not be required to bear that strain. Not just yet, anyway... ;)

All good things come to those who wait until the propitious moment.

but of course... tis a lot of work, takes a lot of resources and is a real commitment (yadda yadda) - but i can still hope for the future, whenever that may be :)
i wouldn't think about having a kid till i'm 25 at the very least (am 20 now). probably more like 30 in reality.
besides i've only been going out with this girl for a couple of months, max :p but i have been thinking about family/kids for some time before that... bah, i'm just weird :p

Me and a BUNCH of my friends heading out into the country for the 4th of July...*thinks*...we took four cars to get everybody there, so there were at least a dozen of us, plus the three or four that were already there in advance making preparations for the big event.

My memory is a little hazy...beer, pot, and about $1500 worth of fireworks!

Then some "action" in the tents after we ran out of explosives. :D

Good times! :)

Hmm, this year has just flown in for me, so it must have been one of the better ones overall :) The best period was probably the week my boyfriend and I spent in Toronto in September. The best thing that happened was quitting my dead-end job and starting my Masters, which has been really enjoyable so far (unlike the higher education that went before it).

Edit: Saw Dr Who mentioned earlier in this thread - its return was another highlight of the year for me ;)

I think Jackie Fullerton said it best:

Davis, chips the ball forward to Healy, the flag stays down, Healy on into the penalty box, AND SCORES! Northern Ireland have taken the lead against England at Windsor Park.

Yeah, that was pretty much the best moment of my life, never mind the year.

NI 1-0 England

Top moments? I'd say...

The party I got back with my old girlfriend and got to know cool drugs people, my friend punched a hole in a wall, another broke the fence, and some people got wee'd on. Always fun.:rolleyes::p

One of the parties of the summer was pretty rocking. We actually covered the dining table with Castlemaine cans. I was the most ill I've ever been the next day though.

The day me and my girlfriend (at the time) watched Dodgeball and... did some other things too was also damn cool.:D

haha reminds me of the week after we got back from amsterdam (which itself consisted of solid stonage and shrooms woot). we managed to post home about an ounce of prime nederhash (mostly ak47 and orange buds) and smoked our way through that, our mates' stash, our own, and 100 pills between all of us. plus some (free woot) coke and plenty of beers... it was a solid week of partying i swear! :p
i also got to smoke through shelly - our hookah water pipe - again, which was great cos i hadn't seen her in months by then :)

of course that was before (or when) i decided drugs really aren't that great :(
haven't even touched a joint since, heh... at least i went out in style :D
