The Airing of Grievances: At the Festivus dinner, each participant tells friends and family all of the instances where they disappointed him or her that year.
Since we all eat dinner at different times, let's just get it all out now:)

I hate all you people who swear or say similar off-color things in your posts and make me nervous to look at NS while at work.

Only when it gets screen captured. Which it turns out none of my calls have been since I started working. Some sort of system error. I'm still nervous that someone will see me looking at something inappopriate, but at least it hasn't been documented. Once they fix the problem, though, I'll probably be too much of a wuss to look at NS while at work.

My biggest grievance this year is the tendency of certain posters to label as racist anyone who criticizes an aspect of a certain culture or religion, particularly if that religion or culture has a large ammount of non-whites in it. Let's reserve accusations of racism for those who truly believe that people of one color are inferior and not capable of the same achievements as people of another color.

Tactical Grace has accused me of racism under such conditions, and I don't appreciate it.

Ok, here's a greivance...USians gun supporters who don't seem to understand that the issue of gun-control in Canada can not be approached the way it is in the US. As in, we don't feel we're being stripped of our rights to protect ourselves from bad guys if our guns are taken away, we're pissed because we can't hunt, or shoot problem wildlife (bears eating your children, that sort of thing). So stop trying to help with your NRA, US-centric points of view...it's too alien, and isn't really suitable for us.

Oh yes, oh God yes; I can't stand that. Happened to me the other day. This guy I was arguing with said that "[modern humans] are every bit as resourceful as their animal counterparts"--the implication was that they were as resourceful in nature; i.e. without machinery, pre-built shelter, and so forth. When I pointed out that most modern men [at least, most modern whites; particularly those in the West] probably couldn't survive on their own in the Amazon Basin, he called it a "straw man."

Still, that's probably not the worst. The worst is when people ignore my points, instead responding to the more or less trivial anecdotes contained elsewhere in the post. When I get into back and forth debates with people on these boards, I frequently find that they don't even bother responding to the bulk of my point at all; most of the time these points are not even quoted in their response.
