Most of us college folk are starting, taking, or finishing the fall semester. So how'd everybody do?
I've had a fairly disappointing semester. Looks like I'll be getting mostly C's, an a or two A's, and perhaps a D. That's the last time I take 19 hours.:(

I won't find out how I did till... january or february. My best predictions are an A, a B, and a pair of Cs.
There go my aspirations of getting a first...:(

i won't have semester finals until january..but..poor little you. 19 hours? don't get overworked, now. if it comforts you any, be informed that we are required to take at least 20 hours. i do 27 now and i'm fine. i'll add language classes next semester so i'll probably be at 30 then.
try less NS rather than less hours.

Is the grade based on attendance at all? If not, there's still hope! I never attended any classes in a particular module one year, but made up my answers based on other subjects - scraped a D.

Yeah, that sounds like a good plan.
I have to take all my exams except one in the next two days. Then I have 3 days down time till my last one, suck ass.

theres no hope lol. i stopped doing all my work for that class. the reason is that my teacher wanted me to visit a buddhist temple one weekend. (buddhism traditions class). well i work weekends and i wasnt going to take time off to do that. so i just stopped.

i always wonder why people go to college if they don't want to make an effort there.
i don't want this to sound flamey or anything, really, this is not an insult.
try to understand my background here: in germany, we have a school system where you go to one of three different kinds of schools, depending on how good a learner you are [/oversimplification]. only with a diploma from the "best" kind you get to go on to college. so we already have this kind of "only if you try hard enough to get that kind of diploma you'll have any chance of going to college" kind of thinking from very early on.
then, you only actually get to go to uni with a rather high GPA for most courses, -> yet another selection taking place.
so, basically, you are considered to be rather lucky if you actually get to go to uni, and able to take the courses you want to. many people who'd deserve to don't.
so i tend to get rather angry/non-understanding when people go to college, are offered this chance to learn so much and then just don't use that chance, you know? why do people take up the room people who really want to learn yearn for when all they are going to do is skip classes and study only occasionally and basically just try to get by?
again, nothing personal. just a little..upset, sometimes. knowing people who'd work their ass off and would do anything to get the chance. and then seeing people wasting it.

in my opinion, college is not that special. they dont teach you anything that you cant teach yourself, (in most cases). college should not be so general. its like high school. only in graduate school do you start to learn things for your area of study. i hate college because it takes my money, puts me in debt for 20 years, and doesnt teach me anything that i couldnt learn from a book.

you're defininately at the wrong college then.
p.s. if it is all stuff you can teach yourself and/or learn from a book, you shouldn't get F's because of not going to class (regularly).
also, putting effort into it and pulling through fast, quickly and efficiently will save you both money and the frustration of being under-challenged.
[i hate people whining about how easy things are and how under-challenged they are. that's your own fault. there are so many things in the world, you can never say you know it all already and are bored with not learning enough.]

Today I had: two finals, one at 8AM, another at 11AM. In the space of less than six hours, I have written six essays (8 pages total), answered ten short answers, and about twenty multiple choice. Considering I'm running on two hours of sleep, I feel like crap.
...and I still have two more on Thurs. and Friday. :headbang:

im getting the F not because of just missing class. i stopped doing the work for class. i would have dropped the course but it was past the drop dead line.
its hard to put a lot of effort into something that makes you want to poke yourself in the eye. classes seem repetitive to me. id rather take 4 years studing classes that actually grab my attention than some bogus classes that the university requires me to take. im in my junior year and im still trying to get through general requirments. its a waste of my time and money.

Though I myself am somewhat "lazy", my sister on the otherhand, whom is in college, she was taking 21 credits/hours/blah whatever you called them, but that was too much so she dropped down to 19, has a job paying off her car/gas/phone bill, etc., and is substitute teaching on top of that and still manages to get A's. And she's not naturally gifted or anything, I mean I consider her bright, but she's not super smart, she just works really hard. So if you get priorities straight in life, it's really not that hard to get by with good grades.
I on the other hand am only in high school, [freshman] and am smack dab in the middle of finals myself. Actually just finished a computer final and thought I'd take a peek at the forums. ;) I'm taking a geometry and science final tomorrow, and a english and spanish final on Thursday. Then on Friday keyboarding and PE. Science by far will be the most difficult.
My guess on my grades, all A's and B. The B only because I kinda slacked off first quarter in science.
haha. What can I say? I don't have much of the same drive my sister has. Though I wish I did.
Shouldn't you guys all be studying?

-Long sentances are faulty.
-Words that end in -ing make a sentace faulty.

I never took more than 12 credits (or 12 hours, depending on what you call the units) in my academic career. Then again, I often worked part- or full-time during my academic days AND I was involved in school activities AND I had a busy social life. I kept up about a 3.3 GPA at community college, though I sunk to a 2.8 at uni.

I'm not worried about finals. I'm worried about this damn term paper. It's supposed to be a minimum of 10 pages, I've got 6 1/2 and I'm running out of things to say. If I get it done, I'll get an A for the course (I've turned in 3 piles of complete crap and gotten A's on them) and I will have gone from academic probation to dean's list in 1 semester.

I'm in the middle of finals week right now, actually. I can't believe how fast the year has flown by, and now only a semester left before I'm out in the real world.
So far I've taken the following finals:
-Stochastic modeling
-Networking
-Artificial Intelligence
AI was the worst final ever. There were two entire pages I just left blank cause I had no idea. (Thankfully it was only worth 18 of the 116 points, and she's taking the grade out of 100, and she curves to compensate for us undergrads taking a grad final.)
Still to go:
-National Security Forces in Contemporary American Society
-Software Engineering
-Stats 401

So maybe I got off lightly with the whole credits/hours per week thing :D :D
