Puppies. My Jack Russel was absolutely adorable when he was a puppy.

Kittens don't faze me. I just dislike cats in general - they have an air of arrogance about them, don't give a shit about their owners and are far stupider than dogs. A dog is a real companion - it is a social animal and sees the family it is the pet of as a pack, which it has loyalty to. Cats on the other hand are supposed to be independent - it's not natural for them to be in a social group and it shows.

they didn't ask if dogs were better than cats (they are) they asked who was cuter. Loyalty has nothing to do with cute. ;)

It depends on the type. I mean, dogs have pitbulls and chihuahuas (both of which are abominations to the name) while kittens have those ugly hairless ones (Dear god, the things that you see).

However cute kittens are they will eventually grow into cats which are pure evil whereas cute puppies will grow into loveable dogs. End of debate.

Yeah, but I don't know...it kinda does have an impact on how I perceive them. If I look at a puppy, and I find them really cute, but if I look at a kitten I find them kinda cute...but am always thinking how much of a stupid creature it is who doesn't care about anything apart from itself. Puts me off them in general, and I find them less appealing in all ways because of it.

I like tigers, plus, you have to DO stuff for dogs, i.e. take walks, let outside so doesn't poop on couch, play games...

All you have to do for cats is feed 'em a couple times a day and their set. And sometimes, when it's cold, they sit on you and make you warm.

I had a dog that would sit on you. Damn thing weighed about 25 pounds and liked to stamp right on your balls while crawling into your lap (or he'd lay on your chest), but still . . .
On the other hand, cats last longer as both kittens and non-corpses, so they win some points back and I return to the fence for a quiet sit.

Indeed. It all depends on the individual. In general, I would choose kittens, but there are plenty of exceptions.

Really depends on the type of dog, but mostly i'd go with puppies. My dog was really cute when he was a little ball of fur.

I never would be able to kick a puppy or a kitten ... that's just cruel.

Chicks on the other hand ARE fun to kick. They leave a trail of little, fluffy feathers in the air. Thzt's kinda cute :p

I don't know. Cuteness can be augmented by other features. For instance, kittens seem slightly less cute to me because they make me sneeze and get all itchy all over.

Meanwhile:
puppies are only cute until they poop on your rug, or chew up your Jimmy Choos

Why aren't kittens made less cute when they poop on your rug and scratch up your furniture/curtains?

yeah, my hubby is allergic to kitties too, so we have a dog now. I think I am more of a dog person anyway, but I have something against puppies. (that's why I adopted an older dog)

well, they kinda have a built in "bury thier poop" thing, all you have to do is show them the litter box and make sure it's clean and private and they can get to it and they just go. I have never had a cat that had an "accident" and I have had over 9 cats in my life. (although one did pee on me everytime I had to drive her to the vet :P)

Kittens, by far. They're cuter, smaller, the squeak (puppies yip), and they're born planning to take over the world.

Plus, they are the only pet that makes you work for their affection. I consider that a good thing. And cats are pretty damn smart. Except for the one I currently have, not the brightest bulb in the batch.

funny story, my dog doesn't scratch at the door when he needs to go outside, he just comes and 'cold noses' you and then goes to the door, well the other day I was reading and I suppose he was trying to let me know he wanted out, but I wasn't paying attention, next thing I know he is standing beside my Christmas tree with his leg up and he barked at me. The look on his face was soo funny it was very "Let me out, or the Christmas presents get it!!"

It's true though - dogs have a far more in depth understanding of social relationships than cats. Thats why dogs will sulk when a member of the family dies whilst cats don't give a shit, and why dogs will run around the house excited for 5 minutes solid when they see a person they like but haven't seen in a while, whereas cats probably don't even recognise them. They only stick around the house because of the free food and attention.
