Sad to hear that such a funny guy will no longer be making us laugh with his edgy humor. Well I guess we still have his old material to keep up giggling. Anyway, I hear he had MS and died of a heart attack. I'm sure he is happier now that he is no longer is pain.

What is this, like the 5th thread about it?

Sometimes I don't think Richard Pryor could succeed today.. I haven't seen all his stuff by any means, but you notice quickly that, unless he's aping someone or doing a charicature, he almost never uses common "ebonics" so to speak, and had hardly a trace of an accent. That's rare today. Anyhow, I thought he was occasionally very funny, even if this is the twelfth thread.

Okay I felt bad for ya Fass, since you apparently are having a hard time dealing with a duplicate (or moreplicate) thread and decided to look a page or two in for the other threads regarding this R. Pryor death. I didn't think anyone had mentioned it at all since I had been off and on all day and hadn't seen it once, but apparently there was one which I found 6 pages back. I'm very sorry for my egregious action, and didn't mean to cause you any dismay. :fluffle:

I could have sworn I've seen several black comedians on comedy central that didn't have any accents or ever use ebonics. Not that I can name names or anything. Apparently he was one of the first to use the dreaded N word on stage and was an equal opportunity racist making fun of pretty much everyone. there was a clip on NPR where he was saying something about white people and one of the guys in the audience was saying something along the lines of "you're lucky I have a sense of humor" and he replied, "Yes, I am because I know what you white people will often do to us"

Yeah, I've seen them too.. It's a bit rare, though..

I'm sure he was funny in his day and was a boon to the world of comedy, but I felt much worse for the future of comedy after the death of Mitch Hedberg.

That was a real loss too. He was just starting to get into the swing of things. :(
