Everyone, I'm worried about Stewie.

Saint Curie

He just doesn't seem himself lately. I know we all felt things would improve after he met his future Self, and traveled in time to try to avert becoming a limp fop of a man, but I don't think he's really getting better.

Remember when he was younger? He had such passion. He had focus and certainty, for lots of things. Killing Lois, world conquest, showing the dog who's boss. Now, though, he seems to have lost his motivation...

I think its time for an intervention.

I missed it tonight, too, and I don't think it was a new one, but the new season in particular really seems to indicate that Stewie is losing his spirit.

I did reference some things from "Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story", so if thats a spoiler, um...unread it. Shit, sorry.

Just be sure to watch some commercials or something, so you contributed to the economy of television.

what is an "intervention" may i ask? i seem to remember they had one of those when peter wouldn't take off his giant comedy sombrero for weeks, but thats the only context i've seen it in (as a limey)... sounds like "sit you round the table and bitch at you cos we think we're right and we can tell you what to do with yourself." close?

You could probably say the same thing about the entire show. Family Guy certainly has its moments, but it's gotten too caught up with staying edgy that the humor has suffered as a result. Used to love it, don't so much anymore.

I wasn't so sure last year, but the Simpsons will outlive Family Guy. Again.

Not sure; I think it's in its fourth or fifth season but I could be wrong. I give it two more years, max. American Dad won't last another season, I don't think. I for the life of me can't understand why Fox would cut a show like Arrested Development [which is goddamn hilarious] and leave trash like American Dad on the air. Seth McFarlane used up all his good jokes within the first three years of his career, and now he's just trying to string it along, flogging multiple dead horses of staggering proportions.

I think Family Guy first started in 99?
When it got pulled i could not understand it.

I do think The Simpsons is the best out of all of them.
South Park
King of The Hill
Family Guy
......

I never really watched Arrested Development as something else was on at the same time but it was funny.

I don't understand American Dad i don't find it that funny whether it is humour only American's can get or what i just don't find it funny.

The German Fish is annoying and the Alien as well.

Yeah, your family is supposed to confront you, show you how your addictions are affecting them, beg you to quit, etc.. I don't think it's common, but every t.v. show has one eventually..

As for American Dad, I agree that it's pretty awful, although there have been some good lines, and I don't hate Roger (the alien) so much anymore, and they basically cut out the goldfish, which was nice. The bit where Roger stomps on the Cheez-Nips is worth it alone. :p

Aha, good thing I left out the context, so it won't be so expected...

The good news is, Steve finally started to develop into a defined character, which kinda brings the show along.. rather than just the set-up guy for Stan.. e.g.:

"Steve Smith: Is that a Chinese baby?
Stanley Smith: Sure is! Japanese, to be specific." :p

Yeah, that's the gist of it, although there isn't always a table, heh.

In the U.S., the idea is that if you have an addiction/dependency/condition that you don't seem to be able to control, then an "intervention" is called for. Typically, a clinical therapist, psychologist, or family counselor will guide the process. A&E network does a reality show on it, don't know if you get that channel where you're at.

Usually, they trick the person into coming, the therapist says "everybody here just loves you a lot and they want to tell you some things", then the family/friends read prepared letters about how the addiction or whatever has affected them, and they ask the person to go to rehab/treatment of some kind. Sometimes they work (or at least get the person into rehab) and sometimes they go very, very badly...

I still love Family Guy, even without the as evil stewie (face it, that's what character development does...before he only had a few lines because he was a very one-track character...and I believe Stewie *was* like this by the end of season 3...road to rhode island/europe episodes, anyone?)

Btw, Futurama rules too...and The Simpsons has gotten progressively better. Still not glory season level, but it gives laughs. South Park is still good, but the last few episodes weren't the best, but still funny. American Dad has its moments but the annoying liberal political overshadow ruins the fun occasionally (the gun control episode was particularly annoying, although the ride-converted-to-someone-getting-shot was hilarious). Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Drawn Together, and Robot Chicken are great shows because they don't too much political agendas too them...morality messages bore me, I just want *humor*.

I guess I could live with the light hearted Stewie when he was singing in the interest of camel-theft, or trying to keep his spot in a drama school, but I still feel like he should be making time for things he believes in. Your Terrible Twos (or however old he is) only come once in life, and you shouldn't sell out until your thirties, as I see it.

When you say the Simposon have gotten progressively better, do you mean lately, or that the current stuff is better than the first few years? I'm not totally on board with that. What do you think of Boondocks, so far? Its definitely full of commentary, but the lines are frequently pretty funny.

They cancelled Arrested Development? Oh, man, that was a great show!
I'm not that surprised though. It was probably too subtle and witty for the programmers at Fox to understand/comprehend.
Why have a clever witty show on when you can just appeal to the lowest common denominator!
