Some people may not know much about him beyond "Hurt", or the movie now playing, but Johnny Cash was "The Man" becuase he flew in the face of the country music establishment that told him what he should wear, what he should sound like, and who he should cater to.
He told them to fuck off.
He played what he felt, and lived the same way.
He has more in common with rebellious rock and punk music than most give him credit for.
When Johnny sings about pain, you feel it.
Because he has been there, and has felt it.
Johnny is, was ,and always shall, be The Man In Black.
