Has anyone been like me and wonder where the hell Vin Diesel's family came from? I couldn't decide if he was european or african-american or what and finally a wikisearch has revealled the answer:

Mark Vincent (born July 18, 1967 in New York City), better known by his stage name of Vin Diesel, is an American actor. Diesel is multi-ethnic: of Irish, Dominican, Mexican, African-American, Scottish and Italian descent,. Wikipedia doesn't elaborate very well, but suggests he is Jewish too.

And we need to know this for what reason, exactly?

Hey don't knock him - he's like a more hardcore version of keanu Reeves - we can forgive the poor acting ability provided he continues to kick arse and look cool :D

And Pitch Black Riddick was a badass.

Incidentally, don't believe everything Wikipedia tells you - thats the problem with an whatevery thingy - open source thing that it is. Not everything you read may be true. Most of it probably is, but just be wary is all I'll say.

Pfft. Brain cells - who needs 'em? Besides, everyone knows the first to go are the weak and the sick - it's like predators culling the defects from a herd of zebra :D Things like that merely trim the brain, cut the wheat from the chaff, make it leaner and fitter etc etc.

And besides - watch Pitch Black anyways, it rocks. Vin Diesel is actually good.

I thought that was what hitmen were for? Or maybe riot police.

I thought anyone who cared enough to know knew he was from New York, and that he was of thoroughly mixed ancestry. I also know he was a DM for a D&D group, though I can't recall if that was while he was in high school or college. I also heard he was pretty good at it.

I think he's as good, if not a better actor than what currently passes for quality in Hollywood. II don't understand these people who're so keen to rake him over the coals all the time.

I think it was Fast and Furious that did it - they should've just left it at cool cars and general coolness. As soon as they tried to slip in the whole... family, emotion etc into it, the whole feeling died.

I actually enjoyed the movie, and very much liked Vin Diesels performance. Which is odd, because I'm usually an uber-snob at these kind of events.

Oh don't get me wrong I think he's great - I just think he should stick with the more... Arnie type roles - cut back on the emotion, big up the badass. Maybe go for strong and silent - or just stick with Riddick-styles characters. He can pull that off like... something very good.

Wikipedia gets cleaned up so fast its...well I once put up a page and it was gone withing five minutes.

I'm one of those people that just isn't a movie bigot. That doesn't necessarily mean I have no taste, it's just that no matter how bad a movie or actor is I still end up being entertained. Generally I end up enjoying movies made by talent-less hacks even if it's on the basis of the movies being completely horrible and ridiculous.

Vin Diesel's stuff is no exception.
