I guess I could've filed my answer under "presents", but there's one very special present in particular that I'm looking forward to above all other great Christmasy aspects:
My great-grandmother's rosary. My father's aunt has one of them, and my grandmother is going to give me the other one. I don't remember my great-grandmother very well, as she died when I was in first grade, but she was a great person and a great Catholic, and definitely the matriarch of our family in her time. Heirlooms are extremely important to me and my family, so I'm excited that, two years after "inheriting" two VERY old, valuable rings, I get this as well.

Lucky you. My Grandmother gave away all my family's heirlooms. All my Grandfather's old WW2 stuff... everything! I was really looking forward to inheriting a fully automatic Thompson m1a1...

I would be looking forward to presents, but my mom says that getting presents on Christmas is for little kiddies.

Good news is, I'm gonna get to go to the movies. So I voted that.

This year I am looking forward to watching my kids open presents this year, but most of the time I look forward to a game that my family has been playing since my ancestors came over on the big boat.

We play it at Thanksgiving, on Christmas eve and on Christmas day

The goal is to be the first one to say "Christmas Gift" (or Thanksgiving gift ect) when you and someone see eachother or talk to eachother for the first time on that day, so we end up answering the phone "Christmas Gift!!!!!!!!" and on Thanksgiving, you come into Grandma's house screaming it to try to "get" everyone within earshot, but then they are screaming it once they hear someone on the porch too, so you have to be quick and sneeky

it really freaks out people that aren't in the family, I remember the first year my husband and I were together for Thanksgiving (we were still dating, he proposed the next day) I told him we had to be super quiet coming up the walk, and we couldn't slam the car doors, and then when we opened the door, he was shocked to see 30 grown adults screaming at eachother for no reason.

(you don't really win anything)

LOL I forgot to mention that, growing up the traditional Christmas dinner (that is after Christmas lunch with my family and extended family of about 70 people) we would pick up Chinese take-out on the way home and eat it in the living room floor and watch a movie (Die Hard most of the time)

That's a very disturbing photo Eut, but I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment behind it. As an atheist the religious side of Christmas means nothing to me, but family is definitely the most important thing. My older sister is expecting her first child if Feb (the first of any of us kids), which I'm very excited about. My younger sister & her husband will be in Japan & they'll be sorely missed, but we'll ring them and we'll raise a toast to them & look forward to their return next year.

I look forward to yet another venue for my constant war against childhood, decency and family values. The war on Christmas may be brutal, brothers, it may be hard and socially awkward at times, but we will triumph. Oh, yes, brothers, we will triumph in the end for we must, we must stop this christmas from coming!
This year, I think I'll put big X's over every "Christ" I see in Christmas, set fire to a few christmas trees, and take out a mall santa immediatly before revealing that it isn't the real Santa and ruining countless carefully constructed lies.

December 26th.

I'm sure this will shock everybody, but I don't care much for Christmas. I think Scrooge got too soft. So the ghost of Christmas future showed him his own gravestone: what's the big deal? Had that been me, I'd have just shrugged and asked "What the fuck is your point? We're all going to die and I don't particularly care about what everyone else happens to think of me when I do."

This Christmas? Waiting for it to end because Hannukah begins the next day!:D Actually, it's beautiful in New York at this time of year. However (I'm NOT making this up) the crush of tourists in midtown around the Rockefeller Center tree is so great they actually put up barricades on the edge of the sidewalk so you aren't accidentally pushed into the street.
