Is everyone bad?

depending on the lyrics of a song from the musical Evita, i have no doubt, that every person in the whole world is bad..:

There is noone, noone at all
Never has been, and never will be a lover, male or female
Who hasn't an eye on, in fact they rely on
Tricks they can try on their partner
They're hoping their lover will help them or keep them
Support them, promote them
Don't blame them, you're the same

I think the songwriter is right and every man or every woman has no other motivation as to :
-have sex with strangers
-betray his/her partner
-be horny the whole day long

I am asking myself, if I am the only one who thinks so...

Actually, I'm not interested in those things, for one.. I'm a bastard in non-sexual ways, sure, but no romantic trickery from me, no sir.

There are a ton of people that I don't want to have sex with. And even more, I imagine, who share the sentiment right back.

If I have a partner, it's at least in part becuase I want someone to watch my back. Which means that I wouldn't be out to betray them-would undermine my own defenses.

The internet handled day long horniness. Now we can get that taken care of at will and get on with our day.

You are taking a song that is not ment to be an actual truth, or the sentiment of the songwriter, but an expression of the character in the story justifying thier actions by saying that everyone does it. This attitude and behavior come back to negatively visit that character and is clearly not meant to be something followed or a 'truth' on behalf of the author.

I actually believe Scot Adams when he said that the holodeck will be the last thing ever invented.

Let's see...

-No
-No
-Not really, no.

Nobody's an angle when it comes to relationships, but personally, I don't deliberately use or exploit another person for my own benefit.
Maybe I'm just a hopeless romantic...

What was that routine that comedian had at the end of Trekkies? That if the dude was a teenager with a holodeck he would never leave, the doors would open, he'd be climbing out of a giant vagina..."We think it's time you saw Counsler Troy." "This is Counsler Troy."

Which is to say, I concour.

I agree to a point. Weber is a putz (well, okay I don't know the man. He might be a great guy. I don't like the music neccisarily).

However, a lot of Weber's lyrics and books are written by Tim Rice who is a fantastic lyricist. Some of his lyrics have appeared in Bernstien compositions (that officer whatzit song in West Side Story and Mass). Some amazing, clever and thoughtful lyrics have popped up in ridiculous places becuase this great book writer (book in the musical sense) takes projects that otherwise aren't as great (he also wrote the lyrics to Scar's song in The Lion King, which where almost out of place in thier sophistication.

Although it is tempting to avoid the Andrew Loydd Weber(Tim Rice) quote as well I'm taking the plunge.

Alright have you seen Evita? The song is not talking about what you are talking about. She uses lovers more literally to move ahead in her career and financial situation as well as for sex and such. This is what she is talking about. Taking it in the way you mean is just plain foolish, yes Mr. Depression people do want something other than sex (or random betrayal??) from a partner. I personally look for sex(haha because I am 21) and more importantly the same friendship I have with good guy friends, on and even higher level aka love(thus the reason I am currently single haha).

If you honestly don't believe there is more out there don't tell that to me or I'm going back to bed for a week.:(

That part would have been funnier if I hadn't just butchered it by trying to type out a stand ups routine. But yeah, I liked it. It's kinda wobbly on walking the line between laughing at and laughing with, but it's pretty funny.

Nope. The last thing ever invented will be a new type of mop to clean the holodeck.
