i take it you are not acustomed to english television and its channel 4.
for the yanks here is an explanation - http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/S/spacecadets//

basically it is the biggest tv hoax ever, they took 100 peoples narrowed it down and down and down till they had 12 people. They then told them they were going into space as tourists.

BUT

they are not, they are in an old cold war air base in ipswich, england. not baikonur cosmodrome.

Channel four - home of reality tv- has created a fake russian base in england and a whole fake shuttle in a hanger.

The contestants do not know what it is and they will not be told that they have never left earth.

lol as i said when they were in moscow "what can't you find at a russian market?!" :p

the people were, as usual for this type of show, a bunch of wankers

but this is a fresh take on a dated reality tv concept, and i might actually watch it (being a sci fi fan more than anything else)

i just loved the look on their faces when they showed that preview of the russian bloke who's gonna be greeting them next week! :p:p

Ok so let me try to get this straight.

These people think they are in russia or something, but they are not.

They also think that they are going into space, but they are not.

We all know this, but they do not.

So....are they going to be told in the season finale?

How are the producers planning on simulating actual outer space?

Are they landing on a planet or something?

Give me the entire show context, only put it in lamen's terms (you know us damn yanks:rolleyes: )

It doesn't answer all your questions, but there's a background article by one of the makers here (http://www.guardian.co.uk/theguide/tvradio/story/0,,1655651,00.html#article_continue)
I suspect they're deliberately not giving all the details out front so people watch the series to find the answers to questions such as yours.

There is of course the posibility of a double-bluff, and the contestants are in on the joke while the viewers are being spoofed.

from the link:There are two questions people ask when we tell them about the show.

The first is: "What about weightlessness?" to which the answer is "Oh you're thinking of the old space ships. Modern flights have a gravity simulator. People don't float around on Star Trek, do they?"
