I thought this a couple of days ago (and sadly my first thought about it was, 'I wonder what the people of NS think?'), and was reminded of it by Neo Danube's comment '"ah but X is good news for Y"'.
Anyway, surely with all the car bombings, statues coming down, general destruction, Iraq's scrap metal industry must be doing fantastic business? No? Comments?

I apologise for the poor taste of this thread, but I consider it interesting.

Probably a glut on the market.

If you consider the number of abandoned and destroyed Iraqi Army vehicles alone, that probably outnumbers all other sources combined.

One would think so as long as the foundries get enough energy to keep running and enough security to keep from being blown up by suicide bombers.
