Hey

I've been getting into pandora alot lately and listening through my favourite stations I've come through alot of songs that have made a big difference in my life through the last years.

My question is, have you had any songs that you feel have changed your life? Or have marked a really big landmark in it? Your first kiss? Being with a woman? Marriage? Kids?

I think our taste in music expresses alot about the person we are, so have at it y'all.

NB.

Mine would prolly be Let go by Frou Frou, that marked a period of my life I was going through some major changes.

Pink Floyd: Coming Back To Life. When I heard this, it changed my whole outlook and made me accept my lifestyle and all it represented. Haven't looked back since.

I can think of five....but they're particular songs that influenced me musically rather than being "life changing".

"Know Your Enemy", by Rage Against the Machine. Got me into music. I was a rather ignorant boy that believed that popular music couldn't have a political message.

"Negative Creep" by Nirvana. So different to the more popular Nirvana stuff i'd heard...it revealed the band in a new light for me, and I was inspired to pick up guitar and learn every single one of their songs.

"Holiday in Cambodia" by the Dead Kennedys. My introduction to old school punk; my revelation that punk wasn't all Blink 182 and such. I got into the Sex Pistols at about the same time, but this is the song I heard first.

"Bring It On Home" by Led Zeppelin. Showed me that old music, much less the blues, can be cool.

All these are a couple of years ago, and they may sound silly...but up until I was about 15...I had NO clue about music. But most recently...

"Gardenia" by Kyuss. I'd been a QOTSA fan for a while, and I knew *of* Kyuss ...but when I bought "Welcome to Sky Valley" on a whim and played it...I instantly was hit in the head by a revelation: "This is what I want my guitar playing to sound like."

Happy Birthday to You. I heard it this one time and I was able to drive. I heard it a few years later and I was allowed to drink and gamble in casinos. That song seems to change my life about once a year.
