Yep thats all I have left until I enlist in the United States Marine Corps... I am 18 years oldand a fresmen at Vincenens University in Indiana, I will have only completed one year of college atthe time of enlitment. A lot of people call me stupid for leaving my education to fight and possibly die. Maybe I am stupid, but I love my country, and I love the corps. To save face I DONT like President Bush, yet I will fight for him, I would fight for any one who holds the position of office, even if I dont like him because he is my boss. BUt on the bright side I will finish my education later on in life... maybe in two or three years...but right now all I want to be is a marine... Semper FI.

Your choice, I guess. Funny how many people feel the urge to post it on NS when joining the military. Just once, I'd like to see a post like "I started as a cleaning woman today, and I'm proud to serve my country by keeping it clean and tidy"...

Of course you do, no question. I was just wondering. You're right about the bit about NS being political... which in turn makes me wonder why I've never seen a thread about how somebody here got into any political office whatosever?
I think I'm hijacking, sorry.

With all due respect, but we should care exactly why?

We're supposed to respect armed centres of power.

At the risk of Godwining the thread, and I'm not just trying to make a 'teh Bush = teh Hitler!!!!one' post...

I find this statement somewhat worrying: would you still serve under absolutely anyone due solely due to the position they hold?

No he isnt. Well not till you enlist.

One piece of advice before you enlist, look up Murphy's Laws of Combat.
They may have nothing to do with Murphy, but they are funny

Well, I wish you the very best of fortune anyway. Here's hoping you'll find in the Corps what you're looking for.

I think you should have completed your education first. The Marines will always be there, conflicts will always be there, but the opportunity to better yourself academically is rather more fragile.

That said, if you can get the military to pay for it, you're OK :)

HOwever, it's your life and your dream, you should follow it. But you might wish you'd hedged your bets - you can't count on dream jobs being exactly as you envisaged them. If it's still possible, I'd complete the college, then join. But it's your call, and good luck whatever you decide!

good question not absolutly any one... but yes regardless the the politicalperty in office at the time ofme being amarine yes i would serve them faithfully...BUT if we did get a hitler incarnite in power...
1. The people would rebel...
2. most of the military will rebel..becuase it goes against what this country was founded on.
3. OR if the military doesnt rebel...i know i would only uder the cicumstances that the perosn holding office is a sadistic monster trying to ethnic clense the world...

Hey, its okay, he has since pretty much advocated a military coup as preferable to the established democratic process...
