Shouldn't teenagers be tried as adults?

More and more often, we see how young defendants are being considered to be tried as adults when they commit crimes beyond what was expected when the law was originally written.

Some of us may recall how 4 teenagers in Cape Cod were merely suspended from school following a gang rape upon a teenage girl (nevermind the argument that 4 college girls may get away with intimidating and assaulting a guy for an initiation ritual). We need to not only remind our youth of the consequences of defying our law, but must tell them that the reprecussions of being incarcerated are a real deal.

Teenagers don't have the political or social rights of adults, and are thus afforded legal protection. But link the story if you can, please.

What I want to know is this:

If four college girls strip a male student who just happens to be passing by, tie him up, and have sex with him repeatedly, it's not a problem.

If four college guys strip a female student who just happens to be passing by, tie her up, and have sex with her repeatedly, it's a problem.

Just need that one explained to me, ok?

It is a problem in both cases if it is not consentual as far as the law is conserned

Though I find it more likly that the guy consent then the girl (but thats just personal opinion)

If we start trying teenagers as adults, we'll eventually be forced to redifine adulthood. Everyone 13 or older would be classified as adult, and we'd have to change laws regarding sex, the draft, etc. If they're not adults, don't try them as adults.

Exactly adults get BOTH privilages AND responsabilities

If we want to re-define adult hood we have to re-define BOTH he responsabilities and privilages that come with that, not just one or the other.

Some friends of mine recommended that I murder someone before I turned 18 (Nov 28) for the reason that I'd be 'let off easy because I was, still technically a minor'....But I let the opportunity slip through my fingers. *sigh* ~_~
