Still going: they (possibly just her and Budgie at this late stage) did a concert with a big string section somewhere in London last year (I think the same place VDGG played their comeback show). It's out as a DVD now.
I always rather liked Katherine Blake (out of the Medieval Baebes and Miranda Sex Garden) and Alison Shaw (out of The Cranes) myself.
Which is the nicest female Gothic-Singer?
I like Evanescence, but other that than I know nothing of Gothic music, so I'll have to choose Amy Lee. They did dedicate the album to Jesus though, which puts me off a little.
I voted for Tarja being a huge Nightwish fan and all. Most of the ones listed are hotties though and Simone should definitely be on that list.
What about Sonja Kraushofer (L'âme immortelle)?

I think Amy Lee is great but I really don't want to give Evanescence much credit, and she has to be held accountable for the songs written by Evanascence, even if she's a great singer.
So I'd go for the singer of Epica, or Christina Scabbia (even though I think Lacuna Coil's music is pretty over-ratted).

Curve were never even remotely goth: Dean Gracia plays bass on Tom Petty and Eurythmics albums and was in a shitty pop funk band with a peroxide blonde Toni Halliday before Curve was formed. If that makes them goths, then I'm Edgar Allen Poe.

I'm not 'precious' about a definition as broad as 'goth'.... sure, I don't consider Curve to be Traditional Goth.... like Manuskript, Emma Conquest, The Horatii, Suspiria (even The Merrythoughts).... or Fetish Goth, like Athamay... or Uber, like VNV Nation, Covenant, Dementia simplex... or Darkwave, like Midnight Configuration... or even Industrial Goth, like Squid, Angelwhore, Velvet Acid Christ...
But... you look at their 'look', circa Horrorhead, Split Into Fractions, Fait Accompli, etc... and they definitely had a 'goth' influence on their particular brand of electronic shoegazer. They were 'goth', the same way Mazzy Star were 'goth'.

I'm not a big fan of most of those 'female fronted' bands named in the poll. I'm not that fond of high pitched female vocals.
These ladies however have my blessing :p
-Marcela Bovia from Elfonia, Stream of Passion and the last Ayreon album. Technically she's a prog singer and nog a gothic singer :p
