If true do you think this sort of thing should be tollorated?
What should the consequences for sony be if this is found to be true? that they publicly defaced buildings to make proffit

I like the counter-graffiti.
And no, it shouldn't be tolerated. While I usually tolerate real graffit (not tagging) I don't need very fucking wall to be a billboard.
Does Sony owe the owners of the wall money for advertising? I imagine a case could be taken on those grounds.
Ever heard of hardcore fanboys?

I agree the owner of the property should be reimbursed for advertising at least ... along with cleanup costs (if its already been done) and other potential losses (such as busniess if the wall is owned by a busniess) associated with it
What the hell was this company thinking

Hey, if it weren't for the fact that we are spread out so few so far, NS would be able to organize and meet in different cities - Los Angeles, New York, London, etc.
We already got London down.
There could be a forum up there somewhere where people got too into their PSPs.

The pictures are strikingly simmilar in nature as well
I have yet to hear of this wide ranging advertising for any single product by "fanboys"
A few incedences yes but more and more reports are coming in

If it's fanboy work then the DS would be plastered over every wall in the city. You don't know rabid until you meet a Ninty fanboy.

Yes but not always does it help sales
From the reports out there CD sales of rootkit infected CD's are down ... overall sales is at best stedy with standard projections
And what they lost is not always immediatly viewable

Brand loyalty
Brand loyalty is a thing of the past, and the sooner Head Offices around the globe reconcile themselves to that 21st-century reality, the better for all concerned.
I wish I could have my local electronics repair shoppe build all the components I need for around the house - 'cause if I could get things done that way, you'd never see me in a Sony store again.

Depends on what level you are operating at
Take a look at any of the rabid Nintendo VS MS vs Sony arguements
3/4 of the arguements really boil down to the individuals loyalty to their gaming system
They just find a tecnical aspect and focus on it to justify what really is just brand prefference (for the most part)

I must admit I wasn't thinking of the games - I was thinking much more about the rest of the gear - TVs, stereo components, video cameras, etc.
I own a PS2 - and I'm planning to ditch it, the few games I bought, the controllers, the vertical stand, the DVD remote control - all of it - for maybe fifty bucks. In fact, I'm looking at gutting my hodge-podge entertainment unit and installing some kinda wireless home theatre dealie in its' place.
At this point, I could care less who the manufacturer is, though Sony might just get my consumer dollar 'cause the big ass monitor is a Sony Vega. Having just one remote would be kinda sweet, if somewhat unnecessary.

While i can absolutly sympathize i feel that way about counsoles myself there is a massive market that ARE brand driven
It is just more prominant in game industries
Hell look in the CPU market ... or graphics card manufactures
People find technical differences to latch onto when in all reality it is a brand prefference they are latching onto
As far as some electronics go yeah I see less rabid aliegence but its still there they buy what they remember as "good" brands when in all reality their may be a better smaller company solution

The computer I'm using to type this message on was built by a friend to some general specifications - but for the most part I just left the technical details to him. I'm not a hardware afficianado, I just need a machine powerful enough to run my animation, compositing, and editing apps, along with a stable OS.
I got it, got it for less than buying it out of a box, and this machine'll last me at least another four years. And even then, I'll still have my friend salvage whatever he can from this machine when I set him the task of building my next great computer.
It felt a lot better doing it this way than it ever did when I was a diehard Mac user.

For you yes ... everyone has their focuses
But I was talking on the level of him the direct consumer
Some of it is experience ... but as a pc builder myself I absolutly understand that about half his decisions were effected by brand prefferences
Hell I just order the parts for one
You know why I stuck with saphire for my videocard? because I had a good history with them
We ARE still effected by brand prefferences
I am NOT saying everyone is overly concerned with a brand for EVERY product but for a lot of them we are

We'll always see brand preference around.
If I built a PC now I'd have an AMD processor, a BFG motherboard and an ATi Graphics card because I've had good experiences with the companies. ATi made the GFX for my 'cube and my laptop and both have served excellently, AMD made the processor in my parents computer which I had good experiences with (though I got a Pentium laptop on special offer) and BFG is just plain a decent company I've heard nothing truly bad about (and I like the logo and warranty deals they do).
I wouldn't ever buy a PS3 or Xbox360 save on a secondhand deal because I hate Sony and have no love for Microsoft (they will pay for Windows 95...) but I've had great experiences with every Nintendo or Sega console I've ever used so I'll get the Revolution and will probably hunt down a Dreamcast.
