Alright I'll tell you why...

Up 48 hours doing a major exam project.

16 hour party (Friends threw it for end of term)

12 hour drive to Northern New Hampshire to go sking (Cannon) and I can't sleep in cars, becasue I get violently car-sick.

8 hours of skiing (Do Not Recommend Skiing on less than 6 hours sleep...look at that; 0 in 3 days)

12 hour drive home

last 12 hours were a blur...no idea

**Although I skiied, and lived, I could have died...really...it was like being stoned without the happy part. No coordination, no reaction.

I remember at one point going down the trail and thinking something along the lines of "Wow I'm going really fucking fast. Oh well...I don't care."

This is why you always set an alarm. Once I slept for 10 hours, and I felt terrible because I wasted 3 hours asleep that coul have been wasted on something more entertaining.
I figure I can catch up on my sleep when my own actions catch up to me and I'm either in a cell or a coffin.

19 hours is my record after 2.5 weeks of flying around America, barely getting used to timezones before I jumped again. When I got home (UK) after being awake the entire night flight home, I went out playing (I was 12) for a few hours. When I got home, I fell asleep in my living room (at 4pm) and woke up the next day at 11am.

Not the best sleeping story though. On the way back from Leeds Festival this year, I think I fell asleep driving a few times. I may have still been a bit drunk, too. What's worse is that I fell asleep going over the M62, going across the Pennines, and it was about 20m visibility. Suffice to say, the next service station had me with three cups of tea and a few bottles of lucozade.

14 hours used to be regular for me. in fact i function best on about 10 to 12 (but tend to get about 6 lol)

at uni my record was not waking up till 7pm (having been asleep probably about 1am, making it a grand total of 18 hours)

though if this were voluntarily staying in bed (awake or no) i'm in with a chance at 3 days :)

I slept from 10.30pm to about 2.30pm once.. so 16 hours. That was after I went to a party, got really drunk, didn't go to sleep at all, went to pre-season cricket training (after almost 30 hours of no sleep and getting drunk in the middle of it) and then went home and sat around for ages. I could easily do 12 hours most nights, and do sometimes if I get the chance.

Well, today I slept for 10 hours and 45 minutes.

The longest I ever slept was 7PM-4PM, with a brief wake up at 12PM to outside noise. But, you know, a combination of a wicked headache, 3 2-22s (you know, the caffeine and codine pills), plus lack of proper sleep for a week...

Longest I ever slept straight without waking up? About 20 hours. I was about 10 and travelled to the UK with my dad. I'd not slept before the trip in a couple days because I was so excited, and I was seriouly jetlagged. In addition I was run around London from 6 am thru about 11 pm nonstop except for short rides on the Underground the day we arrived. I remember nothing of that day. I got up after the 20 hours, had no idea where I was, walked downstairs and said "where's mommy?"

So they put me back to bed.

My longest is something 16 hours, but I ate and went to the bathroom after hour three. I hadn't slept in 24 hours (damn redeyes) and when I got to my hotel (in Athens) I fell asleep right away. My parents brought me a pizza, which I thought I was eating for breakfast, and I fell back asleep. In total, it was about 4 PM-7 PM, eat, bathroom, 7:15 PM-9:15 PM

After getting two total hours of sleep in a week (I'd been horribly sick through the whole thing and couldn't sleep at all), I once said goodbye to my father (who was going on a business trip) on Friday and was consequently woken up by him Sunday evening. I'd total that at almost 40 hours. I'm sure I woke up several times during that time, but quite frankly, I don't remember them. My mother assured me that she'd woken me up twice during that time until the day she died but I don't remember those either.

Either way, I never got out of bed and I never spent more than a minute awake.

Once, when I was younger, I worked a double shift, 16 hrs solid, that after being awake the previous day, so about 30-32 hrs awake. When I finally got home, I was so exhausted I could not sleep. So I took one of my mom's Flexeril.

I took it Saturday around 5pm. I woke up Sunday after 9pm. Well rested.

Mom said she was getting worried, but I was breathing OK and seemed to be comfortable, so she just let me sleep...

My best was 20 hours straight, up for 2, back to sleep for another 14 last March. I had a hell week for one of the shows I teched. It started out with me being up 4 days straight. I woke up, went to school, started teching after, rehearsal, late night, got home, did work, showered, went to school, electric work, show, up all night doing work, shower, school, lunch, video games, show, up all night with people, show next afternoon. I got home from the cast party of the show at 10 PM. I woke up 6 PM the next day, ate dinner, and went to bed again at 8 and woke up at 10 AM monday morning (decided to take school off).

The longest stretch of sleep I had was the result of running a hospital laboratory by myself and provide testing for someone that was admitted for ketoacidosis, which meant every hour, on the hour, for 12 hours, go down to the ward, draw a tube of blood, go back to the lab, run the tests, and take the results back down to the ward. This was on top of the normal night stuff. Got home at about 8am and didn't wake up until 11:30pm.

I once lost almost all of a Saturday after I went to a chiropractor. I probably fell asleep around 9 PM, and woke up for dinner (approx. 6-7PM) the next day. I ate for about 30 minutes, then I fell asleep again (and probably slept for another 8 or so hours). So about 21 or 22 hours. No meds, just apparently one hell of a back adjustment. Wow...so many super sleepers here. Right now I get a reasonable amount of sleep and don't stay up too much past midnight too often (it's 1 AM here and I am probably going to sleep soon) but I was more of an erratic sleeper in college, or as I call it, my glory days.

I slept for 16 hours once - I was up all night the previous night and went to bed at 3 in the afternoon. I woke up a couple of times, and the last time was at 6 PM. The next thing i knew after that, it was the next morning.

As for staying up all night...I did that a few times in college as well. My second year in college, my Model UN club traveled to New York for a conference, and I stayed up all night on the way there and the way back because we traveled at night. I drove in the middle of the night and was exhausted (but didn't sleep) and I had to be prodded out of the driver's seat (I had driven for about 4 hours.) Then I got back and went to a friend's for Easter, and I was inexplicably asked to drive despite the fact that they knew I hadn't slept. I kept myself awake by sticking my head out the window at high speeds and slapping my face over and over just to try to jolt my system. I slept for a good 12 hours after that.
