Was the moon landing a fake?

Conspiracy theories are more popular than ever before. That's why people like tinfoil hats - it's not just a hollow fashion statement.
One of them says that the moon landing never took place.
What do you think? Enlighten us!

Of course the moonlandings are real! The conspiracy theorists claims don't stand up to a moment's intelligent scrutiny. For a thorough debunking of their nonsense, see http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/tv/foxapollo.html.

According to my communist Modern Studies teacher the landing was certainly a fake and that only the USSR had rockets sophisticated enough to reach the moon. He says that the USA knew of Soviet plans to carry out the mission so several weeks before it was about to take off they manufactured their own landing in a film studio.
Yes, it was. The footage was actually from Mars. (Didn't want to say Uranus.)

Ask him why the Soviets didn't report not seeing anything on their ballistic missile radars. ;)

While your point looks logical, and I have no intention of pointing out that his teacher was right, let me ask you why they didn't report that anyway, just to discredit the US? After all, who was gonna check?

All faked. Too many inconsistencies.
They were secretly filmed at a film studio, aka Area 51.

Hahahaha :p
I'm guessing that other nations, particularly in Western Europe, would also have the technology to disprove that claim and show the landings as real. And imagine the prestige hit to the USSR when they were caught red handed and either A) Admit lying, or B) admit that their early-warning radars aren't working.

Look closely at Kanabia's statement. A double negative. Which would mean, unless I'm mistaken, they did report it?

It's true.
It was filmed by Elvis and it's actually JFK in the suit as well.

Screwy sentence construction on my part. I was speaking hypothetically; assuming the moon landings didn't take place. If that were the case, why didn't they report nothing showing up?

of couse it was a fake. all evidence points too it being filmed at rea 51. The wesite above is certainly americanised just to make children salut the stars and stries nd hate russia. Maybe america should stop taking credit for tuff it did not do and maybe realise its not the worlds best ntion. Russia was nearly at the point of landing there. They had already put men into space. the american leaders couldnt face the fact that they were being beaten by a load of stupid commies
why did the flag wave in space

Wow, they let people that dumb teach? No wonder our educational system is screwed up.

It didn't wave.. check out the article posted toward the top of the thread.. it was supposed to be straight, but the arm wouldn't extend, so it looked bunched up, like it was in the wind.. NASA thought it looked good that way, so future missions used poles that replicated the design.

Like a pendulum, without air resistance to slow it down the cloth would wave back and forth from the motion involved in driving the pole into the lunar surface.

I heard about it a few years ago, but I didn't realize NASA liked the "wind" effect and incorporated the flawed pole into the design, until I read the article from Page 1.. I think the flag looks better with a ripple in it, actually. Looks better than nailing it to a box-shaped frame or something.

I usually concider myself a scientifically-minded logical guy, but the moon landing is a mysterious achivement. This was during the cold war, mind you. Anyone saw K-19 The Widowmaker? That story would have been a secret forever if the Soviet Union didn't fall.
If the US had failed to send a man to the moon by 1970, it would have been a huge blow for them. When you look at the other missions at that time(lots of failures, including a TEST when the three real lunar voyagers burned to death), at the level of computer power they had(almost none) and the fact that the entire mission went without a glitch, it must either be fake, or extreme luck.
I also find it strange that we don't have ANY satellite photos of the lander and the flag. Add the fact that the Saturn V blueprints has disappeared (HOW does something like that disappear?)and you have A a nice breeding ground for conspiracy theories, and B a large mystery as well.

I think that on the whole the evidence favors a real moon landing. The video just looks too correct. Hollywood always has little errors when they make a movie. Continuity errors, special effects that violate physics, etc. The moon landing had none of those. Now if the professional movie makers can't make a film perfect, how the hell did NASA?
Anyway, I believe we did get there, but the proof will come when people return to the moon, as I'm sure they will. A moon landing would be a big trophy for China's space program.

The video also proves we were there when you look at the physics of the lunar rover, for example.. unless we created a massive vacuum (the size of a film studio), it couldn't have displaced rocks and dust like it did.. there's about 100 other examples, but that's one of the most obvious indicators.

i think conspiracy theories are popular because people realize more and more how the world actually works.. how the people are kept in darkness as to the truths of things.. how politicians are linked to the NWO.. etc. paranoid? why not? i trust the government as far as i can throw 'em. :mp5: as for the moon landing, i'll believe it when i land there myself. i own a few acres up there, by Crater Campanus. i half distrust the landing on the moon story, but at the same time i can't grasp why the gov. would lie about it. ;)
I honestly hope that those who said it was faked are being sarcastic...
...and then I remember that I'm in the General forum :(
yes
A good reasonable answer. Although I've heard from conspiracy theorists that supposively an alien spacecraft shadowed the Apollo 11 on its way to the moon.

what about the other moon landings. were those faked too?
I'm inclined to believe that the moon landing was real, though I could see how you could argue it wasn't.
I can't believe that 20% of you doubt or deny the moon landing. And here I thought the people on this board were intelligent by internet standards.
