Recently I recalled watching this one science fiction show or mini-series when I was younger (mid-90's or so).

It was about this jet pilot that went missing mid-flight and then he comes back years later, not having aged a day, and has healing powers or something like that.

Does anyone recall having seen this, and what it's called or who was in it?

The Pretender, maybe? I only vaguely remember that show, but I think the plot was something like that.

EDIT - No, it wasn't that one. I'm almost positive I know the show you mean, though.

"The Visitor"

That's it.

Jesus in Space
That would be the best show ever. Or better yet, Chuck Norris in space. Chuck Norris is designated to pilot a deep space shuttle designed to reach the outer solar system because only Chuck Norris can pilot it. But something goes terrible wrong and he gets flung into another galaxy and he travels from planet to planet kicking ass and saving the day with his amazing Chuck Norris powers.

Yeah, that seems about right. Do you know anything else about it, or was the 'that's it' mean that's all you know?

Wait, get this:

Jesus AND Chuck Norris in Space (though Chuck might get top billing.)

No, I meant "That's it" as in that's the show :p

No.. the REAL 'suck' is that they axe good stuff (Earth 2, Firefly, had a good attempt at Buffy, killed Angel early)... but continue to run all the crap...

I'd say Buffy had a fair run.

Yes... Buffy was one of the few survival stories... but even in the case of Buffy, they tried to axe it after 5 seasons (i.e. while it was still going strong, and keeping 'fresh').

Indeed... after selling the franchise to UPN, Fox insisted on touting the season finale for Season 5 as the 'last episode' of Buffy... not content with just shucking the franchise, but trying to make sure it stayed buried.

I remember that. It was when all hell broke loose at the graduation ceremony.

And this reminds me of Jon Lovitt's comment on Fox following the cancellation of The Critic:

"FOX... They should have spelled it with a U!!"

It wasn't mid-90's, but USA's "The 4400" sounds remarkably similar. Wonderful show.

Well since the original post was on old shows, anyone here ever see the British series "The Champions" from the late 60's? Or are you all part of the microwave generation? (i.e. born after the invention of the "radar range").

If you know about The Champions, you know it ROCKED. James Bond with ESP is just the beginning of that show.

I don't remember The Champions... that was a little before my time...

However, British sci-fi (ish) shows that DID rock, that I DO remember (even if nobody else does):

The Tomorrow People

Sapphire and Steel

The Prisoner

Blakes 7

The Enchanted Castle (actually fantasy, not sci-fi)

Into the Labyrinth (again, fantasy)

Box of Delights (horror, rather than sci-fi)
Gun toting civilians

Blake 7 was great. Was able to watch it on PBS here in the states. Its format where every episode tied together was a model for Babylon 5.

Can any one help me find that name to this movie?

Its an 80's sci-fi movie. It starred Tom Selic. It had mechanical spiders that would inject people with a poison and then explode. The bad guy had seeking bullets, and the camera would switch to a "bullets eye view". I remember it as a kid, but its been driving me nuts that I can't remember its name.

Anyone know the name of a British sci-fi film from the sixties wherein the local villagers on an island off the coast are terrorized at night by what turns out to be giant mutated cancer cells escaped from a research lab also on the island. They'd also attacked the sheep - leaving their victims completely boneless blobs of flesh. The film as I recall concludes with a desperate attempt on the part of the villagers to barricade themselves in either the school gymnasium, or it may have been the church, or... perhaps the church gymnasium???

Anyway, I saw it once on the Movie Matinee around 1973 or '74... and I remember it looking kinda dated even then. Might've been a Hammer film; I couldn't tell you who, if anyone of note, appeared in it; I'm not even sure if was in colour or if it was black & white. Our old Motorola had an effing big screen for its' day, but the trade-off was that we had solid, reliable black & white television 'til 1985.

If you know the name of the flick I'm scratching my head over, don't be shy. You can even TG me the name!
