Odd. (http://www.cnn.com/interactive/travel/0512/tsa.items.list/) The Transportation Security Administration has said that "Blasting caps, dynamite, fireworks, flares (in any form), hand grenades, plastic explosives, realistic replicas of explosives" are allowed in your luggage, and lighters (with fuel) are not. Makes you wonder if they know the actual point to checking luggage before a fight

WTF?!

I swear to god that Stupidity isn't an handicap in getting into positions of power these days. In fact I think that it has to be on your resume "I'm Stupid", otherwise it gets sent to the shredder.

Can you show me the article or where you got your evidence? I'm nearly certain they aren't allowed without special permits and whatnot.

That is, indeed stupid, unless they're worried that a lighter in your checked baggage may accidentally spark and start a fire. But then, explosives won't? I mean, I'm rather more worried about some explosives being ignited by rough treatment than about a lighter sparking.

I think CNN made a mistake. The table that is linked at the TSA website clearly prohibits pyrotechnical devices, as well as lighters with fluid in them, in checked bags.

Explains a lot really. I'm not one bit surprised.

It's going to be a big surprise to all those folks that planned on taking some dynamite on their next flight, huh?

Heh. I can see them being dragged away wailing "But CNN told me it was ok!"
