They actually called a congrressional hearing on something like that? It's not like it affects the future of the country or anything.

the real question is why the number of people able to recognise the idiocy of current governments dont try to form their own government. lazy? defeatist? selfish? I dont know and I dont care. [/hypocrit]

I think it's a case of Congress grabbing at straws in the hopes that "average joes" will notice.

I'm pretty sure the thought is, "Poor people like sports, right? Let's do something about sports so the little people will think we relate to them."

Come on Congress. Let's stay focused. National Debt. Iraq. Afghanistan. Rich/Poor divide. Healthcare. Borders. Reviving the manufacturing sector.

There was only one occurance of the word "republican" on that page. The fact that a Republican is chairing the committee looking into this DOES NOT implicate, in any way, that it's all the Republicans behind this. Nice generalization. I guess it doesn't occur to you people very often that your side does things that you disagree with.

John McCain - Steroids in Baseball

Arlen Specter - Opening a Congressional committee investigation into Terrel Owen's treatment.

That's the trifecta I was referring to. If Democrats were opening/chairing such panels, I'd point and laugh, and if there was a specific pattern (such as three sports-themed investigations in a short period of time,) I'd then feel the need to ridicule them.

Also notice in my two previous posts, the word "Republican" only appears once as well...

In conclusion, might I add: Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah! (sniffle, snuffle,) waaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

You forget though that the party in control of the particular chamber calls the shots over which hearing gets to be made and no chairman would be willing to do so without consent of the house leadership (i.e. GOP right now) unless he or she suddenly decides that they don't want to be chairman any more.

I'd say that there's a fair to good chance that GOP leadership were for this measure. Now WHY they might be, I have no bloody idea. And why the Dems are going along with it I don't know either, but Congress is heading into an election year so I expect to see lots of grandstanding to get names in the paper type of stuff.

It would be interesting to match up any college that felt it got slighted and the home districts of the reps though.

I'd like to propose a motion to send these congressmen to Fire Island for treatment for their stupidity.

Hilary Clinton and video games?

Hilary Clinton and video games?

She is a stupid biyatch as well.

Sure hope the Dems don't make the mistake of nominating her.

I predict she'll get a blowjob in the Whitehouse too.

'Cause she's a hermaphrodite.

Hermaphrodite is a funny word.*

A House Energy and Commerce subcommittee, charged with regulating America's sports industry, announced Friday it will conduct a hearing on the BCS next week, after this season's bowl matchups are determined.

What the fuck? Shouldn't they be looking for ways to reduce energy prices and get some progress on expanding our infrastructure? I mean, they are the Energy Subcommittee.

Of course, the reason why they do this is because they get political exposure, more pay, and free travel. It's mostly the free shit that inspires these "investigations".

Hilary Clinton and video games?

Elements of stupidity mentioned here score:

Democrats: 1 Republicans: 3

And yes, the Democrats are stupid to be jumping on the anti-video game bandwagon. The jerks are trying and failing to break the Republicans' hold on the public image as moral and 'concerned for the children.' Of course, the Republicans immediately went anti-video games as well. They're both jerks; I just think the Democrats are less jerky.

The good thing is that it keeps them busy. Otherwise they might think of more ways to "help" us.

Hermaphrodite is a funny word. There is a type of caliper, looks like dividers, made as shown. Damned hard to find in the discount catalogs, too.
