Actually, it's an incorrect term all over. Insanity is a legal term, only and simply means that one was not in possession of one's faculties at the time of a crime and thus not accountable for their actions. Mentally/psychologically disturbed are the correct terms. :-p

What if a fellow in some kind of maximum security prison were trying to appear insane so he could transfer to a mental hospital for an evaluation where from he thinks he might have a better chance of escaping..
