How come the ROMA VICTOR banner has "slavery" as an advertised feature?

Am I the only one bothered by this? I mean, I don't have anything against the game, but slavery's fun now? Or is it just what sells? I thought people were supposed to get all worked up about slavery's evils... Or is this just yet more hypocrisy?

It's realistic. Maybe it's unsavory, but it's an undeniable part of Roman history, so any accurate game based on that period would have to have slavery in it. And it's definately not the first game to feature slavery. Ever play any of the Elder Scrolls game.

No, I wasn't talking about slavery being in the game, I was talking about it being one of the most marketable (presumably) features.

Actually, it's a spelling error. It should read "shavery".

Hey, if I lived in Rome, I'd own slaves if I could afford them.

That's how you're supossed to pay for the game.

Mass carriers don't win! I just crank out a bunch of Scourge and throw them at the carriers while I simultaneously strike with some Mutalisks and Hydralisks to distract the carriers' drone ships; of course, in my opinion Scourge are more effective against a similar number of battlecruisers.

Actually, it could be nice if you enslaved other players and used the in-game cash to pay for your subscription.

I usually play Terrans, and know enough that under every screen of battlecruisers to have concealed SCVs building a couple of missile turrets.

That's what the defilers are for; plague and dark swarm help take care of that. Of course, the cost is incredibly high, but it works well...unless you've got quite a few of those damn science vessels.

The evils of slavery shouldn't be marketable? the fact is, the vast majority of our games and literature glorify the horrors of WAR I mean, slavery is rather unpopular with our society, but there's nothing wrong apparently with mass murder on account of you were told to by some idiot with more buttons on his collar. Honestly, for a society that prospers on foreign blood, I think advertising slavery as a feature in a game is not much of an issue in comparison.

Most modern depictions of Roman culture severely downplay the importance of slavery in everyday life.....personally, as a Latin student and enthusiast, I'd be more likely to be interested in a game of that sort knowing that it was more loyal to the facts of Roman life than to the cushy modern image, shrink-wrapped and sanitized for non-offensive mass-play.

What's Roma Victor? Like Roman Starcraft?
