With Christmas fast approaching, many people are putting up their various Christmas decorations. Many are nice and tasteful. But some... some not so much. (http://www.goingjesus.com/cavalcade.shtml)
What kind of weird holiday cthochkies do you and yours put up?

I believe my family's decorations are quite taseful. We get a big bushy tree, some lights, and a fait amount of wreath/bough/garland stuff, none of it fake. Christmas has a very natural feeling at our house.
I don't like it when a house uses only red lights. It looks creepy. Inflatable or pump-air lawn ornaments ar an eyesore. If you can mistake your house for a city skyline, you're using too much light. Santa, while fun to have around outside your house, gets ridiculous when there's three or four in a row. Sometimes at the same house. if you're going to put up animatronic reindeer, make sure they don't sound like a lawnmower.

We hang animal viscera from our house and car, and when we go for our traditional christmas drive we pelt passers-by and house with pig eyes.
Either that or I'm lying.

trees are only allowed if they are full on real fir trees
otherwise, just tacky, why would someone want to put a fake tree up, it looks so bad.

That sounds about right...

One year we tried to make a giant Christmas tree out of lights on the side of our house. It's a two-story house, and this was the broaded side of the house, so we needed like a dozen strings of lights. It was hell figuring out how to put the thing together, and even worse when we had to store it by rolling it back up around a big piece of lumber. It didn't even look all that good. We tried it again the next year, but half the lights were busted and the cord was eternally tangled. I think it's still in the crawlspace somewhere, probably home to several species of spiders.
Now, we just have tasteful wreaths hanging in the windows, illuminated by a spotlight if it's snowing. But now Dad wants to get one of those projectors that puts up giant Santas on the side of the house.

some of us are highly allergic to real fur trees. I would rather have a tree that some find "tacky" and be able to breathe.
I have a tree, it's fake, it looks like a Douglas Fur. I have multi colored lights on it, 300 for the 6ft tree (I need to get another 300 though) it's got bulbs, bows, and silver bells. On the week of Christmas we add a popcorn garland.
The star on top is silver to match the bells, and there are ornaments made by my kids on it, and a few that my husband made when he was a kid.
The girls have stockings that match the Christmas tree skirt, and I am doing a small tree (like 2ft.) that we will unwrap a member of the nativity scene everyday and put on it, there is a short Bible study for each person, the whole set is 12 peices (12 days of Christmas) and the star goes on first, the baby Jesus goes on Christmas Day.
If anyone wants a better explaination of the little tree, TG me, and I will send you more about it.
