NO! It's DETROIT. America's shithole.
I used to live in SE Michigan and it is sad to see that city. It has been dead for 40 years. Even downtown is really in sad shape. It is littered with abandoned buildings like the Michigan Central Station, United Artist Theater, Book Cadillac Hotel, and others.

This would make more sense if you posted the picture, not the website that actually says it's Destroit below the pic.

I tried, but the picture couldn't be posted for some reason. I think it was because it wasn't a jpg.

I don't disagree with the fact that Detroit is nearly dead. But in all fairness you posted a pic of a urban renewal project. The crane in the background is a dead giveaway.

The picture with the crane was from a website made in tribute to old TIger Stadium (1910-1999) I saw my first baseball game there in 1993 when I was 5 and became a White Sox fan in that park from Frank Thomas homered for the Sox there.
That crane is not doing shit for the city. This is a picture of the site around new Comerica Park when the construction started. That crane is building a new $300 million stadium for a loser team that hasn't had a season above .500 since the early 90s. Comerica Park has been around now for 6 seasons and it hasn't done shit for the city.
I can see why you'd think it was an urban renewal project if you hadn't checked out the whole site it came from.

The Tigers should have never moved out. That place had more history than Yankee Stadium.

Yeah. I miss that ballpark. I moved during it's last season so I never saw a game at Comerica. (My brother skipped school and drove 3.5 hours to see the Sox clinch there in September.) Tiger Stadium wasn't in extremely bad shape. It's not like a new stadium will attract fans when you haven't finished above .500 in over a decade.

It may be an urban renewal project but it is still a pretty good depiction of the rest of the city. Detroit is a crap hole. Has been for years. I lived up there 13 years. Even though the mayor tried to say it was a nice city she lied.
Well, they had the perfect combination of archaic and self-defeating economic policy, high taxes, and incompetent/corrupt city government...it's no wonder they're that way. Unfortunately, it's probably too late for them to change especially since their entire economy rides on one company, GM (and Delphi by extension).
yeah they rely on GM. GM just bought the Renassaince center in downtown. Every other auto maker moved out of the city.

<--As my location gives away, I'm from Detroit. I'm damn proud of it too, despite the fact that parts of it make NO look like Beverly Hills (no offense guys). However, there is revival projects going on, and those take time and patience. Why does no one have patience?
I agree with the Tiger's old stadium. I had my ONLY baseball game there, and man, it was great. I really miss the place. But yeah, the Tigers suck. Maybe, if we fix the city, the team will improve?

Maybe if Little Caesar's fires that dumb GM who gave a 75/5 deal to an injured Maggs.
As for the city, it may improve now that the dumbass you had for mayor is gone. That idiot was corrupt. I mean he charged an SUV for his wife on the city credit card. No wonder they are broke.
Too bad Archer can't be the mayor again. The city was starting to improve under his leadership.
Looking at the pictures, there is no way I would say they from a warzone or Iraq/Afghanistan.

I'd probably say places like the more rural areas in the former Soviet Union. Or maybe Chernobyll.

OK, but would any disagree in me saying they look like Belgrade after the US bombed it?

No, because Belgrade had people living in it. This place looks dead; it's like a no-mans-land between two countries that have been at war for 20 years.
In all honesty, I see would you mean... but I would still have to say no.

I sadly saw that when I looked at the site more. I found the pic on a google search. I by no means support the message of that site, but the pictures expressed the dire state of that city so well. The true reason the city is in hell is not minorities as the morons on that site allege. It is called shitty management by corrupt city governments and their socialist economic policies that forced businesses out. The riots can't be blamed as other cities had riots as Detroit did in the 1960's and none of them look like Detroit.
Import cars aren't to blame either. Detroit was on the way down in the 1960s, 10 years before Asian cars began to sell well here.

Of course it is. (If the Yanks had captured Berlin, you probably wouldn't have to ask :p )
Anyways, they repaired it.

Actually, I look at this and I could probably transplant it to Chernobyll and it wouldn't look out of place. Its got that deserted, "nobody lives here anymore" look.

Nice source for the photos, BTW.
As I said in a previous post, I do NOT support the messages on the site that I got the photos from. I didn't go to that site specifically for the photos. I got my first photo from a site that I was looking on that was a tribute to old Tiger Stadium. I decided to edit my original post with more pictures and got them from a google image search. I only saw what that site was after I had posted the pics, but I kept the pics as they really showed how desolate the city is.

No, blame American cars that aren't up to par in quality, or in line with consumer demand. Not to mention horrendously inefficient business practices. Detroit killed itself. All the Jap cars did was appeal to what people wanted.
And it's been run by Democrats for how long???
I think you're on to something. What killed Detroit was high city taxes from liberals that forced businesses out of the city. Of course jobs and revenue left with the businesses leading the city to heavy debt and an inability to fund its infrastructure. As a result, it fell apart.
It isn't a race issue as some idiot white supremmicist have made it. It is an issue of what happens when you get socialist idiots in charge who overtax businesses.

You can't put the blame on that alone. Detroit has mostly been an auto manufacturing hub after all, and the firms there simply didn't bother to stay up with the competition when import cars started outpacing them. People who don't bother to keep up with their competitors don't survive. And as a result, local employment drops when the profit margin drops.

The automakers (and jobs) moved ouf of the city in the early 1960s because of the taxes. THis was a decade before foreign competition became a major problem for Detroit automakers.
