It's true! Thank you Mars Express for clearing that up!

That's fascinating and provides even more proof that early Mars was wet. It could even still be now, since we know know for sure that subterranean pockets of water exist. Perhaps we should start drilling cores to analyze them.

Except we might have to bring our own fish to catch (or lose).

Canada should claim it. It's not too different from the Northwest Territories.

Nah, Canada oughtta claim Phobos and Deimos instead. Then we'd totally pwn Martian telecom.

Yeah, I was gonna read that later on. Don't know what to make of it from just skimming the headline, though.

The idea is to try and create a global warming effect on Mars by using heaps of CO2 and the like, isn't it?

I guess, Leonstein. It's probably not a good idea though. I used to think terraforming Mars was a great idea, but after reading some Roger MacBride Allen stories (THE DEPTHS OF TIME/OCEAN OF YEARS/SHORES OF TOMORROW series), I'm far far far from convinced.

Thing is, if we fuck it up, there's nothing really in our power to put it right again. And I'm afraid we'll try taking the job on before we're ready for it.

Oh, and I finally read that article, Pure Metal. Hmm. Hadn't thought a drop in salinity could have such profound effects on the flow of the ocean current. Might not bode well for Europe.
