This is a tragic example of how the insurgents and actual terrorists are willing to recruit anyone for their cause. Unfortunately as the rest of the world knows, this will be turned by the Busheviks into a blanket condemnation and call for the extermination of Islam as a whole. Don't be surprised if we hear more of the same old "Turn the Middle East into a Glass Crater" and "Kill All The Sand ******s" rhetoric and even unfortunately serious calls for Muslim Internment Camps and other such disenfranchising moves that will in the long run only give more ammunition to the Jihadists.

Anybody brainwashed by any religion or philosophy is a dangerous weapon.

The Belgian press uses the term "kamikaze," rather than "suicide bomber," eh? Hm. I guess that's kinda interesting.

Clearly this doesn't warrant the extermination of all Muslims. It does, however, warrant close monitoring of what is preached in mosques, and what is disseminated in Jihadi websites. If we're to stop terrorism we need to find out the ideological sources of it and exteminate those responsible for inspiring such acts.

Nope, it's not even limited to those who embrace the savage philosophy of the extreme islamists. Tamil Tigers are known to do it too.

Exactly. It shows us that it is fanaticism that is the problem, not any single race or religion.

The Tamilis are in fact the most prolific suicide bombers. That being said, Islam has, and has had throughout is history, bloody borders. It is a violent religon. Sure it has its liberals, but their thoughts and beliefs are gained by ignoring what their religous texts say, not unlike Christian Liberals.

Religions evolve over time. There was a time when there were virtually no liberal Christians. It was all "Burn the witch" or "Kill the heretics".

It seems to me that sunni Islam is going to split into two religions. One that is peacefull, liberal and "modern", and one that is batshit insane. The batshit insane one will go the way of the witch burners. Consined to history as an embarrasment. Of course, this is an outsider's perspective and may be totally wrong.

I don't think its fair to say that Islam is a violent religion. It just has some violent followers, who are a tiny minorities. If all the several billion Muslims on earth were terrorists then I think we'd know about it ... All religions have bigoted followers... let's remember that woman from "Trading Spouses"

This is probably a fair assesment of what might happen. Talking with alot of Muslims myself. I am one too btw. I hear the same overall thinking going on in the groups im exposed to.

I personally look at religion and the fact that all religions go through a maturing process. Islam being what I consider the last of the great religions. It is fair I think to assume that its maturing date is going to be later than the rest. Christians went through a same "type" of period in there religion where fundamentalist tried to guide it. In the end saner minds will prevail I think. If it requires a split than I think it may just happen.

Islam also exists in modern times where these ideas are present. I don't think it's the age that liberalizes the religion per se (though it does contribute), but the times and ideas present.

I certainly don't see what's shocking about it. As a previous poster said, Arabs don't have a monopoly on islamic suicide attacks. Race doesn't matter in cases like this because a muslim's a muslim. Islam is a religion that stems from Arab cultural practices, but has members of just about every race imaginable. An Arab muslim does just as much damage to western society as one from any other race. In fact, I despise the white converts even more as they have made the conscious decision to stab their own people in the back by becoming muslims.

How is it stabbing your people in the back by converting to a different religion?

By the way, my "people" is not white folks. My "people" is the Irish, the Ukranians, the Greeks and the Near-Easterners. Do those people happen to be fairly pale? Well, yes. I have brown hair, a red beard, pale skin and blue eyes. But my ethnic identification is not "white", it's not even "Anglo-Slavic", it's "mutt".

And religion doesn't have to touch that. It can, for some, but it's by no means a necessary thing.
