Randy 'Duke' Cunningham
'Overwhelming case' forced Cunningham to accept deal (http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/politics/cunningham/20051130-9999-1n30duke.html)

Congressman Randy "Duke" Cunningham admitted taking more than $2.4 million in bribes from defense contractors .... Cunningham, a Republican representing the 50th District, admitted taking the bribes from two defense contractors who won more than $240 million in Pentagon contracts while he served on a powerful House subcommittee that oversees military spending.

Halliburton isn't the only company slinging money around to profit from the war in Iraq.

Duke's problem was that he was sloppy--what was he thinking, living on a yacht owned by a defense contractor? Even in Tom DeLay's D.C., that had to rasie a few eyebrows.

Makes you wonder how many Democrats in the House and Senate took money in order to vote to give Bush permission to invade Iraq.

Of course, it's not the same as the oil for food scandal. Not even close. Europeans are plain worse human beings, and are corrupt purely out of greed. I'm sure this true patriot did what he did for the good of America.

I prefer the Ecksian philosophy for politicians

We put all of our politicians in jail the moment they're elected. It saves time.

They're all a bunch of money-grubbing bastards, lock 'em up in the Senate-house.

That was his callsign when he was a pilot in Vietnam. Sadly, he was one of my heroes:( . He earned the Navy Cross, two Silver Stars, fifteen Air Medals and the Purple Heart. He was also one of the last aces of Vietnam, getting his fifth kill in '72 in his fighter Showtime 100.

Just goes to show how even otherwise honorable men can be corrupted by power and temptation.

That epic air battle with Col. Tomb was one for the history books.
