What, so now it's illegal to comment on the NFL?

Hah.. Arlen Specter.. one of our very-soon-to-be-ex-Senators.. the Party gave up on him long ago. He'll lose next year, and no one will care.

Actually, he is.
Republicans have rarely, if ever, argued pro labour.

I know he is, but it is name only.

It's not that he's commenting on the NFL, it's that he wants a congressional comittee to look into the T.O. affair. Yeah, that's a good use of our tax dollars.

Oh.

That makes sense.

Just like all the other GOPers in power.

I'd vote for a good Republican.

Wake me up when you find one.

It's sad whenever someone in any party uses their political power to pursue a personal grievance, which sounds like what Specter is doing here.

Hello, Arlen! Massive budget deficit, Social Security reform, Iraq war? Any of these ring a bell? Don't you think these deserve more of your time than the fate of a single football player?

Isn't there a baseball player taking steroids he ought to investigate?

Actually, he's chairman of the judiciary committee, which would make it his department if it were a legitimate legal problem.. not that I think it is, but Specter would be the go-to guy in that case.

I believe you're thinking of Rick Santorum (http://spreadingsantorum.com)--he's the one running next year, and who's currently 15 points behind his Democratic challenger. Specter won re-election to his sixth, and likely last term last year, and his health is so bad right now he might not survive this one. He's fighting cancer.

Now, to start, I'm not a fan of TO (my dad is a Niner fan while I couldn't care less), but a congressional hearing?! This guy doesn't need any more attention...He's a spoiled brat as is without it.

Yeah, I mixed up their re-election dates... the rest was accurate, though. Specter's another black sheep.

Though it would be pretty amusing if the Congressional hearing found in favor of the NFL and the Eagles.

He's hated by the base, no question, and Santorum is loved, but Specter got re-elected easily in PA, while Santorum is down around 35% and looking like Casey's going to steamroll him. I have to wonder whether Specter is just the kind of Republican who wins in PA the way that say, Ben Nelson is the kind of Democrat who wins in Nebraska.
