My back, is amazingly sunburnt. The worst I've ever been burnt in 16 years. The pain is really starting to kick in now. It's stinging and hurts so bad. My back is starting to ache aswell, like I've been leaning over too long.
Anyone know good ways to stem the pain from sunburn?
I'm going to have a cool shower soon perhaps, unless some of you others have good ideas.

Get someone to rub Vegemite into the burn,i hear that works.
It is the only practical use for Vegemite.

Aloe.. Cut open a few leaves and smear that stuff on your back.. it works. Don't leave the leaves on, just the goo. It takes the pain away to some degree, and heals the burn more quickly, without spending $50 on creams..

If you're not living someplace where aloe grows wild and plentiful, as it does here... I'd say booze. Booze works.

Take two asprin or tylenol or whatever. Drink plenty of water.

The oil from vitamin E capsules spread on the burn will help.

I have heard that vinegar helps take the sting out of sunburn, but I dont know if this is true or if it would actually be harmful.

Make sure you cover up next time-good sunblock or clothing. Its the sunbirns you get now that could be the skin cancer later in life.

ALoe is the best.

A skincare product called Noxzema(I don't know if you have it where I live) helped a lot when I was a kid.

Have someone spray your skin down with Solarcaine (to get numb).

Cover your body in Nozema (to help heal).

Go smoke some <this section censored to avoid the wrath of the mods>.

anything with lidocane in it to numb it (if you are already sensitive to the sun DO NOT USE THIS! it increases sun sensitivity and will cause more severe burning)

then aspirin or something similar with anti-inflamitory properties (IBProfen, Motrin). It will bring down the swelling and reduce pain.

When it feels like hot irons on your back, rub a cold or cool cloth on it or ice as soon as possible. That heavy burning feeling means that the burn is still doing damage and is actually getting worse.

A cold bath may work better than a shower if it is really bad because the shower might irritate it.

Also, lather up with lotion with vitamin E. this won't heal the burn, butwill reduce peeling.

Witch hazel will work, as will being flayed with barbed wire.

If you've got nothing else with Aloe in it, just put a damp towel on your back and - like proposed before - drink lots of water.

Don't drink any alcohol for it will widen the blood vessels in the skin on your back, thus increasing blood flow and worsen the already unpleasent temperature.

Other than that - let someone sprinkle you with ice-water and watch a movie while lying on your tummy :D

That's what I did. It feels ok this morning.. Provided I don't move around or twist too much. It still stings a little too.
Damn, New Zealand sun sucks. Too dangerous

Pour vinager on a cloth and dab the vinager on your back. You will be very surprised at how well this works. Apply liberal amounts.
