Shoutcast, but then whomever you wanted to listen would have to have Winamp. But it IS free.

I tried SHOUTcast but it says I have a firewall up, but my internet settings says that I don't.

Using Windows XP SP2? SP2 turns on it's firewall by default unlike the opposite in SP1 and SP0.

Pandora is awesome, I discovered it myself today and I already want its babies.

As for general hosting, the site I always go to is live 365 @ www.live365.com
which is generally where I go for my world war 2 radio stations :)

Could you tell me how to get around that?

On Windows XP SP1

Click My Network Places
Under Network tasks, click View Network Connections
Right click on the network connecton you are using.
A dialog box will appear with tabs
Click on the Advanced tab. If Internet Connection firewall is ticked, untick it.

On Windows XP SP2, it's a little different. It's called Windows Firewall and things might be in different places. I run SP1 BTW.

There is a channel on there called Making Comics Radio that has been playing Judge Dredd radio plays.

there's plenty of P2P (peer-to-peer) radio apps about. you can use one of them and people tune directly into your computer (assuming you have broadband it'll be ok once you have 2+ listeners) and you won't have to bother with a server.

And I am using a router to give my mom internet upstairs, so yes.
