Is this on the level, do you think?

I have my doubts, but it still made me laugh.

[ponders the human race]

I'm sure something like this has happened numerous times. Whether this exact paper was ever handed in, I have no idea.)

Can't believe he got a 61% on it. Hell, that's passing in some schools.

Yeah, that's why I suspect it may not be on the level. That said, he does have the basic facts of the story straight, so who knows?

It's a bit old. But I doubt anyone'd turn that in. I doubt a teacher would let that pass her by like nothing like she apparently did. See her after class...pfft.

Honestly, he should pass for making something as creative as that.

How did you find this, BTW?

Ever since I've been in about the 6th or 7th grade (I'm well beyond that now), teachers would not even accept something turned in like this. You'd simply get a zero. They almost always specify margins, font size and style, and generally anything other than standard 8.5x11 white printing paper is completely unacceptable. ESPECIALLY if it's a different color.

Anyone who thinks this might be an actual paper that was actually turned in and actually graded by a teacher (with child-like handwriting) and actually recieved a 61% should be worried about the quality of the school they attend.

I've heard some pretty grim things about the American education system, but fair enough.

So.. if you wrote it in e.g. LaTeX instead of MS Word, you would get a 0 ? Even though the output is -in principle - ready to print in a journal ?

Insane ;)

It's funny, but would an english teacher really write 'Page is to big' in red pen? I'd be shocked to find an english teacher who doesn't know the difference between the words 'to' and 'too'. Also, the comment at the end isn't really in the form of a sentence. I'd be interested to know if there is any verification for this one.

My AP English teacher used the wrong form "to" (should've too) once - it's a simple mistake. Once in a while I accidently type the wrong form of something, it's only human. Btw, this appeared first on albinoblacksheep and from what I've heard, it's a fake - sadly.:(

Maybe they'd been driven to a stiff drink or three after reading the first page?

Okay but what about the comment 'funny :)' after reading the crack about Greeks and anal sex?

Maybe they prefer Roman classics?
As I said, I suspect this possibly isn't on the level.

That thing has been circulating the net for at least two years. It's a joke that gets passed around to professors and TAs, but it's not real. Funny, but not genuine. :)

I would have hoped at a minimum the teacher made him rewrite it and resubmit it. Yes, it's humorous in a warped kind of way, but allowing such things to pass as they are would account for the deplorable state of the ecucation system.

I love this thing. Whoever wrote it is clearly brilliant, he obviously knew the story and he could have easily written an actual paper but he didn't. Shame its fake.
