okay..
Well yesterday evening I had a little problem with my bookmarks going POOF!!!
Today i discovered that when ever i try to right-click on a picture and select 'save as', firefox comes up with am error screen asking me if i want to send the error or if i dont want to. oh and my browser crashes..

First I restarted my pc, that didn't work. Second I tried to unistall mozilla firefoz and downloaded the file from their site. That didn't work. It still wont work.

What should I do? Shoot it?

I need to reinstall windows anyways and maybe this is my excuse to finally sit down and format my harddrive. should i do this?

He already tried that and there's no point in trying it again, really.. not if you haven't changed anything else.

Reinstallation of Windows is probably your best bet, because it sounds like you've got a conflict that shouldn't be there.

You mean installation of linux, not windows.

Windows causes massive conflicts.

If a fresh install of the browser doesn't work then it implies something has gone wrong elsewhere on your computer - probably a DLL issue.

Try opera. I swapped over recently...they're very similar, but I have had no problems with opera at all, where firefox would sometimes be a bastard and drop all my bookmarks.

Not just at night. Pretty much all the time, actually.

POWER TO FIREFOX!!!!
When I used Internet Explorer I ws like this :headbang: . Firefox is really good if you think about it. No popups, little to none spyware and its much faster. On top of that it has cool little extras such as Thunderbird.

Try deleting your mozilla profile in C:\Documents and Settings\$Your User Name\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox.

Yes,but those times have nothing to do with it.If you didn't touch yourself at night you wouldn't have any problems anymore.Ever.

Out of curiosity... when you reinstalled firefox, did you delete your 'C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox' folder? You have to totally wipe firefox from your system if you want to reinstall. Not saying that it'll fix it, though, cause it could be a DLL/registry thing like someone else said.

you know, that is so true. I was thinking about using some sort of linux system, but then watched my brother use it, and realized, I like my games...and so that sealed it for me. I'll keep to windows, besides, they are pretty much both free for me anyways..

1. Buy a Mac and use OS X.

2. Buy SUSE linux and keep your PC.

3. Re-install windows.

4. Go to 3.

You obviously know something about windows and Firefox. I've tried and tried to get FF to update itself on my WinXP laptop. All I ever get is a progress bar and it never proceeds. Does this self-update feature work?

Yes, but not so well if you're not running 1.5 is what I'd say, and then you have to have administrator privileges for it to work without a hitch.
