You can vote in their online poll here (http://www.time.com/time/personoftheyear/2005/walkup/index.html). There's also a write-in page.
But I'm curious as to what you think. I'm recreating their poll here to the extent that NS will allow me to do so, and I'm interested in how you people will vote, but I'm also interested in your reasons for voting as you did. I'll provide my one reasons as the discussion progresses.

It serves as a symbol of the NationState community, and since NationState represents the world... hey, its only natural.

I went with Mother Nature since I've lived through both Hurricanes Wilma and Katrina and my daughter is living with me now as a result of Katrina--I've lived in the southeast for all but two years of my life and I've never seen a year where nature reminded us that she's the bitch in charge like this year. The tsunami. The earthquakes all over the damn place. The worst Atlantic storm season we've ever recorded. She gets my vote.

Making shit-tons of money while writing a good book and encouraging litteracy. Time has given PoY awards for less.

My guess would be because she basically remade the world of young adult fiction and got a new generation interested in reading. If you go to the Time website, she's currently number one in online voting--that won't determine the winner, mind you.

She just has good publicity. I've read Harry Potter. Not a book you'd want current society judged by.

Me either--but then again, you could ask the same question of half the names on that list. Lance Armstrong? Rick Warren? Valerie Plame? Steve Jobs? Come on. I mean, even if you hate her or what she stood for, I'd say Cindy Sheehan had a greater effect on the news than any of those four.

Not that I'd vote for Sheehan either. Like I said earlier, I think Mother Nature put the entire world at notice that she's not to be fucked with, and Hurricane Katrina did more damage to the Bush administration than Sheehan could have ever hoped for.

I want Rowling to get it if only for the entertainment of watching Falwell and Robertson get their panties in a wad.

They are funnier than alot of the crap out there (Claw Shrimp ftw), and that isn't why they should win. What other webcomic has become so big it has its own con (or anyone for that matter) and they started the Child's Play thing where craploads of money and games and systems get sent to different children's hospitals. You may think that is a shitty donation, but I have been to a children's hospital. The games and stuff are all half broken and alot of the kids there are there for a long time because they are really sick with strange diseases and only the children's hospitals can help.

Bill Shatner. Bill should, in fact, be retroactively made Time's 'Man of the Year' for the years 1964 through to 1988, then passed over in favour for Mikhail Gorbachev, being re-instated from '89 through to '05.
