Education/Political orientation

Poll coming! (by the way, is there a site that allows you to do two dimensional polls - i.e. looking for correlation between two things)

Unfortunately it's not possible to include centrist views, so I'm afraid you'll just have to vote for whatever way your orientation leans, however small, or vote for the "other".

Liberal Arts Major with an Emphasis in Ancient Cultures. My philosophy: national government needs to be as a small as possible- protect my freedoms, but let me live my life without having yo get everything okayed by it.

Sorry, but I couldn't figure out where I fit within the categories you list. I tend to be rather liberal when it comes to social issues ( gay marriage, teaching creationism, that sort of thing ), tend toward libertarianism when it comes to economics ( except where it concerns environmental issues ), and in favor of a strong military and a bit of a hawk in international relations.

My Masters is in Industrial Relations and Organizational Development, and I will hopefully soon begin ( again! ) my attempts to earn a Ph.D. in Psychology with a primary emphasis in Counseling.

So where do I fit, pray tell? :D

Perhaps a scientist, social libertarian, economic libertarian leaning toward centrist. I understand that the two-dimensional political compass is flawed, but there isn't any room to include more criteria.

Would your profession have any connection to your political standings?

Would your profession have any connection to your political standings?

If we already knew, what'd be the point in a poll?

I would imagine that very few businessmen are socialists. businessmen naturally support business interests.

well i'll tell you what I believe.

I believe in there being a state but that it should be run as a collective whole (with everyone haveing a say)

I am also against unfairness or unecssary crulty (while being all behind neccessary crulty)

i'm generally grouped as a trotskyist due to the fact I agree with most of what they say and do (in britain at least (card carrying membour of the SWP))

and any one makes fun of the spelling as a way of messing with my beliefs I'll just point out then that you are making fun of a disability (dyspraxia (yeah its a bugger to have a disability that makes it hard to spell and then for it to be called dyspraxia))

This education/political leaning drum is getting banged a lot recently. I wonder what's going on...I get nervous when I see the same thing come up like this too much.

Education wise... I'm still in High School (Senior) but I've been accepted at Ivy Tech.

Political Wise, lets see... I'm for the legalization of all drugs, creating a medium-size government that can respond to MAJOR disasters while staying out of peoples lives, I am a Buddhist who is also a huge Hedonist, I hate Communism in all it's forms and support a Free Market System with only MINIMAL Government Interference to keep things from growing too corrupt.

So where do YOU think I stand politicly?

I hope to study arts in university next year but I'm not voting for any of these categories as although I consider myself to be an economic libertarian (believing in democratic worker's control of the economy) this is not how many viewers of the poll would interpret the term. Socially I'm a libertarian by any definition.

Well sofar the scientists seem to be less libertarian then the arts majors. Settling once and for all that people in the sciences truely are more intelligent :)

Nah, I'm just giving you all a hard time. I'm more centrist so had trouble actually selecting where I stood. Though anyone who has read other posts by me has probably learned by now that I'm not a big fan of libertarianism.

As the walking mass of contradictions that I am, I had to pick other. Is it possible to be an Anarchist and a Socialist at the same time?

I want to be left to my own devices, but if the same were true of everyone, I and many others would get screwed over pretty fast. Yet, any government put in place to secure my freedoms would ultimately curtail them, due to its human masters. :headbang:

This is a simplified version of the eternal loop in my head. Sounds a lot like teenagers telling their parents to leave them alone while asking them for money.

EDIT:Oh yeah, I've always been more of a science/math guy
