Hello everyone! what do you think about gambling?

I've got no problem with it. I occasionally bet on harness racing and on craps. Sure some people will get addicted, but people get addicted to just about everything.

While in a society of rational hardworking people gambling can be a nice bit of fun too many idiots don't think further ahead than 5 secounds so to me it being illigal or legal can easily be justified. I'd prob go for against just because gambling can undermine true hardwork and people can suffer baddly.

I see no reason why it should not be - though it should be controlled, just like most other potentially harmful activities.

Addiction to food can leave you obese and dead. Addiction to NS can lead to low grades or being fired from work.

It depends in what mood I am. Either 1) Gambling exploits idiots and adversely affect out society, or 2) Idiots deserve to be exploited, especially if it benefits people with brains.

I've got no problem with people deciding to gamble, but then again, I personally don't gamble. I happen to think it's a stupid activity, but I don't feel especially compelled protect people from their own stupidity.

I'm undecided. I'm leaning towards illegality, since illegal gambling seems to cause less crime than legal gambling. That is my main concern.

I think it should be legal. I don't really gamble, but I don't care if other people do. Nevada hasn't seemed to crumble yet, nor has Japan. Just because it can be harmful doesn't mean it should be illegal. Otherwise tobacco, alcohol, junk foods, and medicines should be outlawed, because all of them can be dangerous if done excessively.

Besides, if it's bad, then why do we let Native American tribes gamble or allow river boat casinos? Are we punishing the tribes by allowing them to have them? And if it bad to have them, why are tribes out here in California trying to build them? It doesn't make sense, so they can't be bad, at a minimum. Thus it should be legal anywhere. States run the lottery, which is a form of gambling. If even States are running gambling systems, doesn't it seem hypocritical to say that gambling is bad and should be illegal?

Legal, but controlled. Too many opportunities for dishonest people to take random chance and make it "less than random".

If we banned/outlawed anything and everything people could get addicted to, there would be nothing left!

I say gambling is fun, it should be legal. It's less dangerous than alcohol and cigarettes, too.

All addictions technically do that, but gambling makes you owe an official entity so they come and take all your shit instead of just losing it because you can't make payments.

Meh, the government should put exhorbitant taxes on it and club to death on live TV anyone who tries something clever like avoiding tax. Or just rig the whole thing so the money goes to them.
